Spotted on the L.A. Times:
The late King of Pop will perform during the Billboard Music Awards –- as a hologram.
The closely guarded secret was spoiled after a lawsuit from tech companies, hoping to stop the performance, was rejected by a federal judge.
Hologram USA Inc. and Musion Das Hologram Ltd. filed an emergency suit Thursday, alleging one of their products was being used without their permission by a competitor to create an image that will depict Jackson performing “Slave to the Rhythm,” a cut taken from his posthumous new album “Xscape.”
While the companies own the rights to the technology that famously raised Tupac Shakur from the dead at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Annual Festival in 2012, a judge said there wasn’t enough evidence to show the planned 3D image would violate patents. Hologram USA acquired the rights to the patents after Digital Domain, which created the Shakur image, went bankrupt.
Judge Kent Dawson also said the compaines failed to provide sufficient evidence that their patents were being used to create the Jackson hologram, according to the court order obtained by The Times.
Details on the spectacle have been kept tightly under wraps. Show producers have called it a “history-making performance” and a source close to the production promised the “technology is so spectacular and groundbreaking.”
The 2014 Billboard Music Awards will air live (except on the West Coast) from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday at 8 p.m. on ABC.

Speaking on the condition of anonymity, a law enforcement source tells BOSSIP exclusively that Steven Jordan was arrested in Crawford County, GA Friday for trafficking marijuana. And it looks like he was unable to get in front of a judge today for a bail hearing so he’s likely to spend his weekend locked up!

While on some down time from planning his wedding with Kim Kardashian in Italy, Kanye West did an exclusive interview with Florence’s La Nazione newspaper. In the interview, he revealed why he and his fiancee love the city, also revealing that their baby North was conceived in Florence. According to reports, their wedding will take place at the 16th century structure Forte di Belvedere on May 24th.
“I think that our daughter North was conceived here among the Renaissance masterpieces. It was our first honeymoon. It is one of the most beautiful cities in the world—for me the most beautiful in Europe.”
Kanye West also revealed to the newspaper that he has been working on new music in the city, revealing that his 6th album could be titled Made In Florence.
From TMZ:
Robin Thicke is so desperate to get his wife back … he WROTE A NEW SONG about it — including the lyrics “I should’ve kissed you longer / I should’ve held you stronger” — and TMZ has learned he’ll debut it live on stage … at the Billboard Music Awards.
TMZ has obtained a copy of the lyrics for the new song — called “Get Her Back” — and the whole thing is dripping with regret over his split from Paula Patton.
Some highlights:
— “All I wanna do is make it right”
— “I gotta get her, go get her back / I gotta treat her right / I gotta cherish her for life”
— “I should’ve kissed you longer / I should’ve held you stronger / And I’ll wait for forever for you.”Robin’s other public pleas to Paula — opening up during concerts about forgiveness — have fallen on deaf ears.
If at first you don’t succeed … beg in front of a national TV audience Sunday night at 8:00 PM on ABC.
We previously reported on Nas’ expansion into music record territory with Mass Appeal Records…now we know the first releases that we can expect from the label. Spotted on Billboard:
First among Mass Appeal Records releases, arriving late this summer, will be an annual compilation album featuring friends of the brand like Future, Pusha T, Mac Miller, A$AP Mob and Nas himself performing a cover of the 1994 Gang Starr single that gave the company its name. Also on deck is “Lost Tapes 2,” a collection of unreleased Nas music, and a posthumous album from Pimp C that will pair the Houston icon and UGK member with modern production titans like Juicy J, Mike Will Made It and DJ Mustard.
Sony’s RED is Mass Appeal’s distributor, reuniting Nas with the parent company that released “Illmatic” in 1994. RED won the rights to the label in a bidding war with Caroline and the Alternative Distribution Alliance, putting up an advance in the low seven figures for a multi-year agreement.
Fun fact: apparently, the record label (which also houses new artist Boldy James) was sort-of birthed from Decon Records’s artist division (Mass Appeal’s co-founder Peter Bittenbender also co-founded Decon). You can check out more on that here.
Taken from the Foo Fighters website:
Foo Fighters have confirmed that the making of their upcoming eighth album–due out this fall on Roswell/RCA–will be accompanied by an as yet untitled HBO series documenting the eight-city odyssey during which the record was created.
In the series, directed by FF founder Dave Grohl, the Foo Fighters tap into the musical heritage and cultural fabric of eight cities–Chicago, Austin, Nashville, Los Angeles, Seattle, New Orleans, Washington, DC and New York–basing themselves at a legendary studios integral to the unique history and character of each location.
One song was recorded in each city, every song featuring local legends sitting in, and every lyric written in an unprecedented experimental style: Dave held off on putting down words until the last day of each session, so as to be inspired by the experiences, interviews and personalities that became part of the process.
“Dave’s heartfelt passion for this project is contagious and his talent as a musician and filmmaker is undeniable,” said Michael Lombardo, President, HBO Programming. ”We are excited to go on this journey with him and the Foo Fighters for this insider’s look at how regional music inspired them to create their own new music.”
Grohl’s 2013 feature film directorial debut, the universally acclaimed Grammy-winning Sound City, was a celebration of the human element in the creation and recording of music, this series is in Grohl’s words, “a love letter to the history of American music.” Each episode delves into the singular regional identity of each city-how each region shaped these musicians in their formative years, and in turn the impact those people had on the cultural fabric of their hometowns-ultimately celebrating their common bond: Every artist that appears in the show, regardless of genre or locale, started as an average kid with the universal dreams of making music and making it big.
Grohl’s interviews with these musicians are integral to the show and the creation of the album as his chemistry with bandmates Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett and Pat Smear. Dave’s unequaled passion for both the music he creates and the music that inspires its creation once again fuels the type of honest and trusting musician-to-musican exchange that made Sound City a critical and commercial smash, one that earned a rare 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes as it rocketed to #1 on the iTunes documentary chart.
Premiering on the eve of Foo Fighters 20th anniversary, the FF/HBO series aims to “give back” to the next generation of young musicians. As interviewee Buddy Guy puts it, “Everything comes from what’s come before.”
The HBO series is directed by Dave Grohl for Roswell Films, a division of the Roswell Records label that releases Foo Fighters’ music, produced in conjunction with James A. Rota, John Ramsay, and Therapy studios, and written by Mark Monroe and Dave Grohl.

Sorry fellas, Nicki Minaj is not on the market — TMZ has learned despite a cryptic tweet suggesting otherwise, Nicki is still very much with her man.
Nicki got everyone all heated by posting a photo of her foot in a pink and clear shoe with the caption: “SINGLE N READY TO MINGLE.”
Conspiracy theorists also dug up a photo of fiancé Safaree Samuels’ Instagram with the caption, “Trust nobody.”
But TMZ has learned Minaj and Samuels just had a small dispute (like all couples) … and the pic was definitely intended to piss him off — but we’re told everything between them is fine now.
Besides, Samuels has Nicki tatted all over his body … where’s he gonna go?

French Montana does not play nice when it comes to his new gal’s ex, Lamar Odom.
The rapper, who is now romantically involved with Odom’s estranged wife Khloe Kardashian, did not allow the basketball player into Penthouse Nightclub Tuesday where he was performing and the new couple would be, E! Online reported.
An eyewitness revealed that everything went down just as Kardashian was entering the club.
“It was Khloe, French, Kim (Kardashian) and Jonathan Cheban. Kim and Jonathan exited the car and were filming a scene for the show while Khloe and French were in the car talking. Just then, Lamar walks past the car and heads around to the front of the club to go in,” the source said.
“Lamar was rejected at the door and was forced to leave,” the insider continued to E!
“He was later seen walking by Khloe and French as they sat inside her Range Rover.”Kardashian reportedly looked shocked to see her husband of four years at the venue, however, the source added that “it seemed obvious Lamar was there looking for Khloe. This was not a random coincidence. He seemed desperate.
The doorway to the club was surrounded by French’s security, who made it clear to Lamar he would not be allowed in. As he was leaving, he walked again past the car that French and Khloe were in and made his way off the property.”
Kardashian took to Twitter Wednesday morning hinting at the drama from the night before.
“Still hurts… Maybe it always will,”she wrote.
There’s quite a bit going on between Ukraine and Russia, and as a result, Korn has released a statement regarding their decision to stay away from that area (for now):
As The State Department of United States of America has recently issued a travel advisory warning against any non-essential travel to Kiev, both Korn and the promoter have decided it would be in the best interest of the fans that the show scheduled for May 16, 2014 be postponed to a later date. Full ticket refunds will be available immediately from point of purchase. All of Korn’s other dates on their tour of Russia will continue as planned.

Not surprisingly, I’m seeing a lot of votes for the 3rd.

Stunning bride! Kelly Rowland looked gorgeous as she said “I do” to her manager and boyfriend Tim Witherspoon on May 9 in Costa Rica.
The “Kisses Down Low” singer, 33, made it official with her beau over the weekend in a “quick, simple ceremony,” multiple sources confirmed to Us Weekly.
Among the 30 people in attendance were her Destiny’s Child bandmate Beyonce and sister Solange, who jetted off in a private plane for the nuptials after their Met Gala drama on May 5, when Solange got into a scuffle with Beyonce’s husband, Jay Z.
Other guests included Carmelo and LaLa Anthony, as well as Destiny’s Child singer Michelle Williams and Beyonce’s mom Tina Knowles.
The ceremony was held at a private mansion estate and guests stayed in a villa next door. Everyone, including the bride and groom, wore white for the romantic event.
Rowland also donned a veil and held a colorful array of flowers for her bouquet.
This is the first marriage for the singer; she was previously engaged to football player Roy Williams but called off the engagement in January 2005.
(AP) — Jay Z, Beyonce and Solange say “families have problems and we’re no different” after a video leaked of Beyonce’s sister attacking the rap mogul in a hotel elevator.
In an exclusive statement to The Associated Press on Thursday, the trio said they have worked through their differences and moved on since a video emerged this week showing Solange kicking Jay Z as Beyonce looked on.
“As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage from Monday, May 5th, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident. But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it,” the statement said. “Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family.”
It was the first comment the performers had made since the website TMZ posted the three-minute video on Monday, saying it was shot last week inside the Standard Hotel in New York City. The video, which does not have audio, appears to show Solange attacking Jay Z in Beyonce’s presence; a security guard intervenes. The footage shows the performers in the outfits they wore to the Met Gala.
“The reports of Solange being intoxicated or displaying erratic behavior throughout that evening are simply false,” the statement continued. “At the end of the day families have problems and we’re no different. We love each other and above all we are family. We’ve put this behind us and hope everyone else will do the same.”
The hotel said Wednesday it had fired the person who recorded the video.
Beyonce and Jay Z were married in 2008.
According to ESPN, Aaron Hernandez has been indicted on murder charges in a 2012 double slaying in Boston (as confirmed by police spokeswoman Neva Coakley). Massachusetts law enforcement officials will hold an 11:30 a.m. news conference to discuss the details of their investigation into the deaths of Abreu and Furtado.
Spotted on the Daily Mail:
A New York City hotel says it has identified and fired the person who recorded security video appearing to show Beyonce’s sister attacking Jay Z inside an elevator last week.
The Standard Hotel says the person has been terminated for ‘breaching the security polices of the hotel and recording the confidential CCTV video.’
The hotel says it will turn over ‘all available information to criminal authorities.’
You can read more here….it should also be noted that the video was reportedly sold for $250,000. Probably a lot more than that employee’s annual salary (although a quarter million spent and not invested isn’t going to last forever).
It looks like it may have been taken down (not really sure), but above is the Queen Bee’s information for those who want to purchase some baby gifts….and they’re not cheap (and can be seen in the above gallery). The baby carriage is almost 8 grand on its own.
Just add this to a list of things you’ll either love or hate Lil Kim for.
Timbaland reveals to REVOLT TV that he has an upcoming album titled Opera Noir:
One thing Tim is excited about, however, is his own upcoming solo LP, once dubbed Textbook Timbo, which has since evolved into Opera Noir, a result of Tim discovering “what I want to do.” He’d later confirm: “I found who I am and what I’m comfortable with, and what I want to do.”
Asked about the meaning of the album title and its central theme, Tim humbly said, “It’s a culture thing. It’s the truth. It’s just about life in general. My life. My personal life, and I found myself as an artist and human being and as a man. I found who I am,” sounding strikingly similar to another Virginia native, Pharrell, who famously detailed the mental clarity he found when writing and recording his recent G I R L.
Timbaland, Drake & Jay Z Connect On ‘Know Bout Me’
Unlike Pharrell, despite Tim’s long list of collaborators – Legends Of The Summer Jay Z and Justin Timberlake among them – the Xscape producer went on to reveal that Opera Noir finds him keeping things bare bones.
“Me and my new artist, her name is V. Just me and her. And Cee-Lo. That’s it,” Tim said of the artists featured on the upcoming album. Not a bad cast of characters, though to any casual fan, it’s obvious he could’ve called upon any number of his superstar homies to lend a helping hand. Still, Tim clarifies that “When [Opera Noir] comes out and you see the whole package, you’ll understand why. You’ll see it, and you’ll be like, ‘Wow, I’ve never seen nothing like this.'”
If you’re wondering what iconic hip-hop album the esteemed producer would compare his surely cinematic Opera Noir to, he likens it to his version of Dr. Dre’s 1992 masterwork, The Chronic.
“I finally made my Chronic,” Tim assured us. With his history, we’re likely not the only ones excited to hear whatever it is that sounds like.
