Last week, news hit the internet that DJ Rashad possibly died from a overdose. According to the Guardian, the Chicago pioneer actually passed on due to a blood clot in his leg. Read an excerpt below:

The footwork/juke pioneer DJ Rashad died as a result of complications arising from a blood clot in his leg, his UK label Hyperdub has told the Guardian.

Initial reports – including the Guardian’s – repeated Chicago police’s suspicion that a drug overdose caused Rashad’s death on 26 April. However, his cousin has informed Hyperdub that the coroner has determined a blood clot that started in his leg led to the death. “Drug paraphernalia” that was found near his body related to marijuana rather than hard drugs.

Rashad, who was 34, had apparently complained about an ache in his leg, but because of his young age, no one considered the possibility it might be life-threatening.

Peaches Geldof Reportedly Died From Heroin Overdose

Peaches Geldof died from an overdose of heroin – the same drug that killed her mother Paula Yates – an inquest will reportedly be told today.

Shortly before she was found dead, Ms Geldof, 25, had posted a photograph on Twitter of her as a child with her mother. She had spoken of never getting over her mother’s death.

The Times newspaper reported that the results of toxicology tests would be revealed by Detective Chief Inspector Paul Fotheringham on Thursday at an inquest hearing in Gravesend, Kent.

Police said they found no drug paraphernalia near her body when it discovered at her home in Wrotham Kent on April 7 and it is not known who supplied the drugs.

Florida State QB Jameis Winston Cited For Shoplifting Crab Legs

Pretty sure that this will reignite the whole debate about whether college players should be getting paid for their hard work on the field. Spotted on SI:

Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner, was allegedly cited Tuesday for shoplifting crab legs at Publix, sources told Bud Elliott of TomahawkNation.com. One source told Elliott that Winston received “an adult civil citation. If he completes the sanctions, it will never show up on his record.”

Per a Florida State announcement and a Leon County Sheriff’s Department press conference, Winston has been suspended from the Seminoles baseball team. He will pay a small fine and will do community service. There was also crawfish and butter involved.

Winston released a statement through his attorney. Via Tallahassee.com:

“As reported in the news, last night I received an adult civil citation for petit theft from a local supermarket. I went to the supermarket with the intent to purchase dinner but made a terrible mistake for which I’m taking full responsibility. In a moment of youthful ignorance, I walked out of the store without paying for one of my items.

“I realize that I am in the public spotlight and my conduct needs to be above reproach. Over the last year I’ve learned that my accomplishments on the fields can be a wonderful thing for my school, teammates, friends, and family. At the same time, I must realize that my mistakes are magnified and can bring great embarrassment to all those who support me every day. I make no excuses for my actions and will learn and grow from this unfortunate situation. I hope and pray my friends and family will view me as the 20-year-old young man that I am, and support me through this unfortunate situation.

“I am grateful to be able to participate in the adult citation program where I will complete community service.”

Fashion designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana were each given a reduced, suspended sentence of 18 months in jail on Wednesday for a conviction on charges of hiding hundreds of millions of euros from Italian tax authorities.

Italy’s appeals court upheld a verdict issued last June against the pair, who are as famous as the stars they dress, on charges of using Luxembourg holding company Gado to avoid paying taxes on royalties of about 1 billion euros ($1.38 billion).

The sentence was reduced from 20 months because the statute of limitations applied to certain facts in the case.

A lawyer for Dolce and Gabbana, who have always denied any wrongdoing, said they would appeal the decision. “I am speechless. We are all shocked. The judgment is inexplicable and we will appeal,” Massimo Dinoia said after the judgment.

A Milan prosecutor had asked the court in March to clear the pair, who – in a protest last year at being “pilloried” – closed the Milan shops where they sell clothes and accessories inspired by Dolce’s native Sicily.

The previous decision, by a lower court, handed the duo suspended jail sentences of 20 months each and imposed a fine of up to 10 million euros over avoidance of the payments in Italy, where corporate taxes are among the highest in Europe.

The case stems from an investigation that began in 2008 when Italian tax authorities stepped up their fight against tax evasion as a global financial crisis began to bite.

New Note From Kurt Cobain Released, Which Mocks Courtney Love

Twenty years after Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain was discovered dead in his Seattle home, police have released a note found in his wallet that was kept private until now.

The note, which was obtained by CBS, mocks the rock idol’s vows with his then-wife Courtney Love, adding further intrigue to the two’s marriage and how that and his personal life led to his demise.

It reads: “Do you Kurt Cobain take Courtney Michelle Love to be your lawful shredded wife,” he wrote. “even when she’s a bitch with zits and siphoning all yr money for doping and whoring…”

The note is written on stationery from the Phoenix Hotel outside of San Francisco and is in stark contrast to Cobain’s presumed suicide note that calls Love a “goddess of a wife who sweats ambition and empathy.”

As well, Seattle Police have publicly released 34 photographs taken at the crime scene. See them in a gallery at the Seattle Police Department blotter website.

In his phone interview with MTV, The Game revealed that he and British singer Ed Sheeran are working on a collaborative LP:

“I’m working on a joint album with Ed Sheeran that we trying to drop probably end of the year, beginning of 2015. That is gonna be crazy. It happened with a tweet. He tweeted something about Jesus Piece, I responded, we exchanged numbers on the DM, and then we got in the studio. We were just planning to record one song; we ended up doing like seven. Ed came up with the idea to start working on a joint album, and we started doing it,” Game said. “That was like in five hours. We was just going. He was on that guitar. Acoustically, he’s a genius, man, so when he does that, what comes out of me is songs like ‘Dreams’ and ‘Hate It or Love It’ and ‘My Life.’ The songs that we got, they’re real songs. And I can’t wait for people to hear ‘em.”

The league has this to say below:

“Lacrosse is often called the fastest sport on two feet. Players are on the field dodging and shooting balls at over 100 miles per hour. With that said we don’t think Jay-Z knows what he’s talking about when he calls Lacrosse ‘soft’ I can guarantee you it is anything but a ‘soft’ sport. Mr. Carter would not last one minute on a lacrosse field during a match and he is more than welcome to come to any of our games and try.”

A defiant Donald Sterling just said he would NOT sell the Los Angeles Clippers.

Sterling told Fox News’ Jim Gray the team was NOT for sale. Gray said on Fox News he spoke with Sterling just before NBA Commish Adam Silver banned Sterling for life.

Silver said in his news conference … if 3/4 of the NBA owners get on board they can force Sterling to sell the team. If that happens it looks like Sterling may well go to legal war.

It sounds like it may come to that.

”He has very strong views on everything from music and art to politics and the environment. Rihanna Sued By Former Bodyguard For Defamation

Rihanna is known to talk her fair share of smack, but a former bodyguard claims she went over the line and is now suing the singer for defamation … TMZ has learned.

Geoffrey Keating filed a lawsuit today in Ireland, where his attorney was also granted a motion to serve Rihanna with the suit in the U.S.

Keating claims Rihanna made “nauseatingly offensive” and false statements about him in an email to him and his partner last July. He also claims the offensive statements were made in a phone call to his sister.

Keating served as head of security for Rihanna while she was on tour between October 2012 and July 2013. He claims the remarks have gravely injured his reputation and his business.

Keating’s attorney, Gerald Kean, tells TMZ, “We’re taking this battle very seriously. We are satisfied that the Irish Courts will see justice at the end of the day.”

We reached out to Rihanna’s rep for comment — so far, no word back.
