Sports lifestyle brand K-Swiss, takes its new campaign back to where it all started for the brand; the American West Coast. This spring, BBC Radio 1 DJ and trainer connoisseur, Charlie Sloth, kicks off the new ‘K-Swiss California Love’ campaign, with a four-part documentary style mini-series starting the 4th March, 2013.

California is the birth place of hip hop culture with rappers such as Dr. Dre, Ice Cube and Snoop Dogg as icons of the West Coast music scene. ‘K-Swiss California Love’, is a glossy, documentary style mini-series following Charlie Sloth to LA to explore the origins of hip hop, it’s rise, it’s fall and its resurgence in the UK.

Comprised of four short films chronicling Charlie’s adventures in LA, and followed up by eight artist-based films back in London which will explore California’s wide-ranging appeal and influence over the UK hip hop scene. The story begins with the godfather of UK rap getting to grips with California’s resurgent hip hop scene and its iconic local communities, from the birthplace of gangsta rap Compton, to the Santa Monica pier and the affluent Beverley Hills.

As MTV News’ Senior Hip-Hop Writer Rob Markman said, Drake dominated rap features all year long, and that was underscored when you realized that every artist on his lineup had at least one big collab to perform with him on the cross-country jaunt. “He strategically had features with people he was going on tour with — so it was Waka with ‘Round of Applause,’ 2 Chainz with ‘No Lie,’ A$AP with ‘F—in’ Problems’ and Kendrick with ‘Poetic Justice,’ ” Markman explained. “Anything he touches is a guaranteed smash.”

French Montana Brings Out Everybody At S.O.B.s

French Montana brought his Excuse My French tour to his hometown as he took over New York’s SOBs. The show was packed as tickets sold out in record time. Besides running through his known cuts such as ‘Pop That’, ‘Marble Floors’, ‘Straight Off The Boat’, ‘New York Minute’, French also had a few surprises up his sleeve.

Busta Rhymes, Trina, Yo Gotti, Wyclef Jean, DJ Khaled, and Uncle Murda joined French on stage to perform their own tracks, much to the enjoyment of the crowd. Here is a recap of the guest performances, shot by David Downer. His debut album Excuse My French hits stores May 21st.
