Big Boi Will Be Joining ‘Celebrity Big Brother’

I think this will officially mark the end of Big Boi’s legendary career as we know it. From MSN:

Outkast rapper Big Boi is set to follow in the footsteps of fellow hip-hop stars Coolio and Sisqo after signing up to appear in the latest series of the U.K.’s “Celebrity Big Brother.”

The star, real name Antwan Patton, has inked a $450,000 deal with bosses at Britain’s Channel 5 network to join the fly-on-the wall reality TV show, which will begin airing later this month.

A source tells Britain’s the Sun, “Producers always like to mix things up with an American star and they hope Big Boi will do the business this year.”

Big Boi will join other celebrity contestants including Five singer Abz Love and model Sophie Anderton. Whitney Houston’s daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, is also reportedly on board for the 12th season of the show.

UPDATE: Big Boi’s ‘Shoes For Running’ Tour Postponed Due To Injury (Video/Pics)

UPDATE: Video of the actual incident above (you’re gettin’ too old for all that, Big Boi!) with some additional post-injury pics below.

Killer Mike recently sent out a Tweet that Big Boi injured his knee, causing future tour dates to be pushed back to the Fall….given the recent news on the passing of Andre Benjamin’s mother, his rationale makes sense:

Big Boi Takes A Supermodel To Work For Skullcandy

Odd premise, but whatever:

Take a Supermodel To Work Day is back. This time around, we partner with EA to take Kate Upton to the recording studio to lay down some tracks with Big Boi from Outkast, and to hang with NFL Wide Receiver Stevie Johnson. While the guys play EA’s new title “Army of TWO: The Devil’s Cartel”, Kate discovers her hidden talent as a music producer.

Andre 3000 On Big Boi Remixes: ‘Not OutKast Collaborations’

andre_3000

Wow, really making it more and more difficult to not see any kind of rift, though we’ll post his statement from a purely professional standpoint and hope that he’s not downplaying Big Boi’s latest remix for ‘Pink Matter‘ and the (soon to be released, we hope) ‘Sorry’ remix:

“It’s important for me to be clear about the origins of my contributions to ‘Pink Matter’ and ‘Sorry.’ I was approached as a solo artist by both Frank Ocean & Tip. I discussed musical direction with each artist and completed my verses. It was after that when Big Boi’s name came up.I never want to mislead our audience — I worried that some would think these were Outkast collaborations. These songs are not Outkast collaborations. I discussed this rationale with Big, Frank and T.I. and everyone agreed. That is why I was surprised to read about these remixes. I understand that anyone can put out an unofficial remix to any song but I have an obligation to be honest with fans about what this is . . . and what it isn’t.”
