Dame and Cam talk Dipset, being first in business and more…
Earlier this week, Dame Dash start sending shots at various industry heads on his Instagram. Funkmaster Flex responded to Dame Dash on his Hot 97 show at Joie Manda’s defense, so Dame Dash stopped by The Combat Jack Show for a 2 hour conversation about taking shots at various industry, Funkmaster Flex, and more. Check out the interview below .
During a recorded phone call from the Ulster Correctional Facility in New York, JR Writer spit a freestyle in which he dissed his Former Label-head Cam’ron as well as Jim Jones and Dame Dash. This is theoretically in response to Cam’ron’s “Dipshits” video, which had additional vocals from Dame and an appearance from Jim. “Do he still fuck with Cam? Do he still fuck with Jim? If n****s turned their back on you, would you still fuck with them?”
Hip Hop Motivation talks to Damon Dash about the Solange vs. Jay-Z elevator incident. As expected, he found the whole debacle hilarious.
The return of the classic, asshole Dame Dash, accompanied by fellow Harlemites Jim Jones and Smoke DZA. Who knows where this is going, but the idea of a Harlem-driven project (throw in A$AP as well) would be pretty effin’ dope.
Ha!…Steve Stout stays getting punked….but I have to agree with 50 on this one…he is one of the most dangerous people in our culture…he makes artist from our culture make themselves corny by working for corperate so he can personally gain…he’s wack and he makes everyone around him look wack…beware
You heard him. Steve Stoute recently received a bit of a talking to by 50 Cent, and Dame Dash has given his two cents on the matter.
Mass Appeal puts Cam’ron on the feature of their latest cover (and their 54th issue). During the interview (of which you can check out a dope behind the scenes clip below, shoutout to Dame Dash), Killa speaks on his capes, upcoming projects, reality shows and more.
Roc-A-Fella co-founder Kareem “Biggs” Burke is currently doing a 5-year bid in jail for drug trafficking and conspiracy. While on RapFix, Dame Dash spoke on the lack of support Biggs is receiving while behind bars. You can show support by copping some gear here.
I’m really disappointed in all the people that I personally watched Biggs help just acting like it’s just ok not to help Biggs …he’s a g so he’s not complaining but this shit is just not ok…you all know who you are…I have know respect for anybody Biggs looked out for that is not looking out him…you should be ashamed of yourself…if you not gonna send him something buy a shirt and I’ll send it to him #harlemstickstogetherddpoppington.com
The Smoking Section saw the above message (much like everyone else) and theorized that — amongst others, I’d imagine — Dame Dash’s Instagram picture and message may have been directed at JAY Z. During Roc-A-Fella’s heyday, it was JAY, Dame and Biggs that represented the empire (below).
Biggs is currently serving a five-year sentence for conspiring to distribute more than 100 kilos of marijuana.
Dame Dash is currently battling a $1 million lawsuit with the mother of his child, Linda Williams. Outside the courthouse after the latest trial date, Dame Dash confronted the NY Daily News reports to tell them how he felt:
Why don’t you guys ever write about the good stuff about a black man? Why? Because you’re a racist Republican paper. That’s why. And I know it’s killing you that Obama’s in office. I know it’s killing you. And I know it kills you that you went to college to write for a paper that’s not credible.
You can check out the New York Daily News’ feature here.
In typical fashion, Killa Cam brought in a new year of life like a movie, complete with scantily-clad ladies, bottles, lap dances and more. With appearances from Dame Dash, his girl Juju, Erica Mena, Juelz Santana and plenty more, this party was definitely one for the ages. Check out the pics above and a couple of very telling Instagram clips below.
Last night, Dame attended Jay Z’s Magna Carter concert in LA with his Daughter Ava at the Staples Center. This makes the second time the two have been seen together.

Harlem shit? Taken from Rhymes With Snitch:
Damon Dash II, 22, was charged with misdemeanor assault and strangulation for allegedly squeezing his girlfriend’s neck as they argued on Sept. 22 in his West 16th Street apartment. “They had an apparent dispute over sex,” a law enforcement source told The Post of Dash-the-younger and his girlfriend.
“She was visiting him at his apartment, he got violent with her, starts to punch her, slap her and shove her onto the bed, got on top of her, he grabs her by the throat and chokes her,” the source said. They briefly reconciled but then had another fight, at which point the victim called the cops, the source said.
Dash climbed on top of her and “placed both of [his] hands around [her] neck and squeezed tightly,” to the point where she had trouble breathing, according to the misdemeanor complaint against him. At his arraignment on Wednesday, Dash signed an order of protection barring him from any contact with his alleged victim. He was released without bail. “He did get physically violent with her,” the source added. “She suffered bruises, a black eye and a cut lip.” Her neck was left with red marks, the complaint alleges. Dash Jr. has had one previous arrest but details of that case have been sealed.
Harlem to Harlem in the above clip, as Cam’ron (along with Miss Info) shows us Dame Dash’s gallery. Definitely need to check this out.
We recently (along with the rest of world) smiled at a couple of Instagram pics which showed Dame Dash back with his former partner-in-crime JAY Z. While we may or may not ever hear a breakdown from that moment from Hov, Complex managed to get a half-cryptic, half-telling response with the other half:
The photo, we say. Tell us about the photo. With Jay. A pause. What was it like?
Dame sighs, leans back in his chair, and looks up at the ceiling. Either a winsome smile or frustrated grimace creeps onto his face, we can’t really tell. He laughs, leans forward, and looks up at us.
“I don’t want to talk about it. It’s a personal moment, nah’m saying?” He stretches out the word: “Godddddd, man,” laughing again. “Instagram, huh?”
Well, we explain, we had to ask.
“Ask him,” Dash shoots back. Never has a pronoun sounded so loaded.
He’s too busy doing performance art, we note.
“Ah. Ha,” Dash chuckles to himself, crystal clear on the reference.
We say goodbye to some more assistants, and start to head down the stairs when we hear Dash’s voice booming behind us.
“What you think it was like?”
I don’t know. It looked…Nice? Pleasant? Meaningful? Maybe like closure?
“Huh,” Dash smiles again.
Am I close?
“Yeah. You got your answer right there.”
Come on…
“That’s right. You said it right! If that’s how you tell it, you’ll be telling the right story.”
A touch of the poet, we shrug.
Dame Dash leans his head back and laughs as we make our way out.
UPDATE: Now with message from Dash (below).
Taken from Instagram, so it’s short…..but you get the point.
In the barber shop listening to jays new album….I can’t front… I still like hearing him pop shit cause I know he’s telling the truth…proud to be be a part of that..#bittersweet
Dame Dash & Co head east in this new docu-series…I guess he still has a little bit of money left in the bank.
From NY Daily News (where you can check out the full write-up):
Hip-hop mogul Damon Dash is so deeply in debt that he claims in court documents he faces imminent eviction from a rented mansion in suburban Carmel, N.Y.
“I am currently several months behind in paying my personal bills,” he wrote Tuesday in the 5-page filing. “For instance, I am currently over $100,000 behind in rent for the only home in which I live and at risk of being evicted.”
Dash lost a pair of multimillion-dollar Tribeca lofts to foreclosure in 2010, with $7.3 million left on the massive mortgages.
He was platinum-selling Jay-Z’s partner in Roc-A-Fella Records and the Rocawear clothing line, and once boasted in a magazine interview that he ruled a $50 million empire.
Damon Dash rode in style in 2004, but now he’s buried in debt, including huge payments to ex-wife Rachel Roy.
An acrimonious 2004 split with his old pal initially netted Dash a $20 million windfall — but eventually left the 42-year-old facing hard financial times. Failed business deals, huge tax debts and repeated legal battles quickly left his deep pockets almost empty.
Court records show Dash lost a slew of lawsuits filed by landlords, fashion designer Charlotte Ronson and a celebrity bodyguard firm.
And pass-the-buck Dash claimed one business, dubbed “Fresh to Death,” was submarined by a “poor business decision made by my partners.” It was unclear what the business, named for a trademark Dash quote, actually did.
In addition to his foreclosed homes, his leased SUV was seized in 2008 after he missed his $714.99 monthly payment.
According to his court filing, Dash faces possible criminal prosecution for non-payment of taxes in New Jersey. Documents indicate Dash also owes more than $2 million in taxes to New York state, and he conceded owing federal income taxes.
The best interview on Combat Jack ever, hands down:
This is the one you’ve been waiting for. Damon Dash talks Aliyah, life without Jay Z, how he’s completely done with the music game, why he was an asshole to anyone who got in his way and why the kind of “broke” he is might be the best thing in the world. We also get some very tense moments as Just Blaze finally airs out why he didn’t eff with Dame. Ya’ll truly ain’t ready for this dynasty thing.
Dame Dash has kept a low profile these days, but a few weeks back, he sat down with Sharon Carpenter for Global Grind.
After discussing his businesses ventures, he says that he’s proud of Jay-Z (and Kanye West). When asked about he and Hov’s current personal relationship though, he had nothing to say. I know this hasnt nothing to do with this interview but GODAMAN Sharon is fine as hell.
