Drake Goes All Out On ‘SNL’ (Videos)

Drake-Started-From-The-Bottom-SNL-Saturday-Night-Live

Let’s forget about the performances for a minute: Drake pretty much became a full time comedian on last night’s Saturday Night Live, and the skits were admittedly funny. I had almost forgotten about his acting days before watching these (I should also note that the show was pretty Hip-Hop oriented overall).

Aside from the skits and hosting, he also treated the viewers to a couple of red-and-blue-lighted performances (he also brought along the dope Jhené Aiko as a guest performer). Needless to say, it was a damn good episode.

You can check out the monologue (LOL at the ‘YOLO’ bit), performances and skits and the designated links below.

VIDEO/PICS: Drake & A$AP Rocky Film ‘Wu-Tang Forever (Remix)’

While I’m sure there will be more to this video than Drake & Rocky, the two were spotted in A$AP Land (Harlem) filming the remix to Drizzy’s ‘Wu-Tang Forever’. The clip is said to be shot of A$AP Rocky and Jesse Terrero and should feature cameos (and verses?) from members of the Wu-Tang Clan. Check out a few snapshots above, as well as a quick Instagram recording below.

RECAP: Drake Night With The Toronto Raptors (VIDEOS/PICS)

UPDATE: Additional clip of Drake and Future the Prince DJing during halftime.

Toronto Raptors’ new Global Ambassador had his own night at the Air Canada Centre, with his team playing against the Brooklyn Nets (holy shit, they even won). You can check out some pics of what went down above; below, various clips of Drizzy on his pregame wave, commentating and announcing the lineup below.

Spotted on Global Grind:

While two lucky teams will be gearing up to play the game of a lifetime, artists like Drake, J. Cole, TLC, and Diddy will be gearing up to perform the concert of a lifetime.

For this year’s Super Bowl festivities, VH1 presents Super Bowl Blitz: Six Nights + Six Concerts, which will be hosted by Nick Cannon and Stacy Keibler. All the action will go down in the greater area of New York City, including the five boroughs and New Jersey.

The concert series will run from January 27 to February 1, and will air live at 11 p.m. EST. J. Cole will kick off VH1′s concert series on Monday, January 27 at the Kupferberg Center of the Arts at Queens College, followed by Janelle Monae at Bronx’s Lehman College on Tuesday, and TLC at Manhattan’s Beacon Theatre on Thursday.

On the other hand, Drake will headline a private concert for Time Warner Cable’s REVOLT network on the eve of the Super Bowl. The Super Bowl pre-game party will be hosted by Diddy.

The biggest show of them all, the Super Bowl Halftime show, will be led by Bruno Mars on Sunday, February 2.

Noah ’40′ Shebib Distances Himself From Posthumous Aaliyah Album

drake_noah_40

Remember that Aaliyah album that Drake was supposed to work on? Remember the backlash that came from that? Well, Drake’s producer Noah Shebib has decided to move away from the project. From his interview with VIBE:

Many of your collaborations with other artists have come through Drake. Maybe you could be the conduit for his bucket-list collabo with Sade.
Well, I was that for Aaliyah. Aaliyah’s label Blackground—the Hankersons, her uncle and cousin—came to me and said if she was around she’d want you to do this [posthumous] project. I’ve been obsessed with Aaliyah forever, and I know Drake has his relationship with her. But that opportunity was mine. Drake said, “Can I do it with you?” and I was like, “Of course, we’ll do it together.” The world reacting to Drake’s involvement so negatively, I just wanted nothing to do with it. That was a very sad experience for me. I was naïve to the politics surrounding Aaliyah’s legacy and a bit ignorant to Timbaland’s relationship and everybody else involved and how they’d feel. Tim said to me “Don’t stop, make the album.” I think that was Tim taking the position of, “I’m not going to stop you. If you’re not going to do it, that’s your decision.” But ultimately, I wasn’t comfortable and didn’t like the stigma. We released [“Enough Said”], but I was seven songs deep. [Aaliyah’s] mother saying “I don’t want this out” was enough for me. I walked away very quickly.

Rappin’ 4-Tay Blasts Drake For Copying ‘Playaz Club’ Lyrics

From MTX RapFix:

It’s often said that imitation is the highest form of flattery, but Bay Area veteran MC Rappin’ 4-Tay doesn’t seem too impressed with Drake‘s latest lyrics.

Drizzy makes a stand-out appearance on YG‘s latest single “Who Do You Love” and rap diehards will surely find Drake’s opening bars familiar. “I gotta shorty named Texas Sin/ She got a buddy named Young JB and now you know the deal/ We turnt up in the studio, late night/ That’s why the songs that you hear coming real tight,” the OVO boss rhymes.
