ILL Wonka & Tokyo Daimo – Talk to My Lawyer (Album)

2018 has been an eventful year for producer-artist ILL Wonka. He dropped a full-length project with Uptown DC’s Shaq James and beat some ridiculous and false felony charges. Today, he continues his winning streak with right-hand man Tokyo Daimo. If you don’t know your DC Rap history, these two have been making music as long as most, alongside the biggest artists from this area.

Wonka and Daimo, best-described as “your favorite rapper’s favorite rapper”, are letting the world hear some of their best with Talk to My Lawyer. Seven amazing, previously unreleased tracks featuring frequent collaborator’s Lambo AnLo (of Rostrum Records) and Goo Glizzy. Check out Talk to My Lawyer today.

Tokyo Daimo is back on attack mode with part one of two for his amazing single, “Saving My City” produced by his partner and main producer ILL Wonka. The DC anthem addresses problems with Daimo’s community, like the identity crisis in DC music and slang, issues between various local rappers, and more. Check “Saving My City” out now, with a second edition on the way soon.

DJ Torch & Fat Rodney – Norfeazt Of The Torch Vol. 1

DJ Torch and Fat Rodney came together to unite their side of DC for an amazing compilation (based on things like this.) Essentially every rapper or group to come out of Northeast DC in the last 5 years is represented on the first installment of the Norfeazt Of The Torch compilation. Everyone I can think of (and more) from Northeast is on here, from Fat Trel, the Slutty Boyz, to Baraq, Sweizy, Mike Brown Da Czar, Tokyo Daimo, Hard Workin’ Ent., Da Big Fella, Chugaloo, Lundy Dior, Monopoly KP, etc. And it isn’t just a compilation for continuity’s sake, this is all heat from these rappers. Check it out because it’s some of the best music out of DC right now. Oh and by the way, this version of “Northeast Shit” was produced by Rick Flare, the original unreleased version was done by ILL Wonka.

ShaqJames (LeeDevito & Supa Trippa) – ShaqJames “The Mixtape”

LeeDevito and SupaTrippa from ShaqJames present their new, self-titled mixtape, hosted by DJ Torch, mixed by Tweeze. The DBMG duo has been buzzing for a while (the “PSA” video is nearing 35 thousand) and this new project is more of the same; cranking songs with great hooks and production. Devito and Trippa collaborated with Lil Tay of CBE and Tokyo Daimo, with beats from Rick Flare, Match Boxx, ILL Wonka, Jay Cornell and DJ Danny Fiyah. Get you a bomb.

Shy Glizzy – Walk On Water ft. Zed Zilla (Prod. by ILL Wonka)

Alright so if you’ve listened to a lot of rap from the DC area in the past few years, you probably heard a beat from our homie ILL Wonka. He’s made a name for himself as a producer, engineer and Tokyo Daimo’s main co-conspirator. Wonka has a lot of great records in the cut, and its great to see one of them come to light. “Walk On Water” brings out some raw, emotional material from Zed Zilla and Shy Glizzy, two artists who often get pigeonholed as basic “Trap” rappers. Clearly, they have a lot more to offer. There was actually a time where we were going to premiere this record. I’m not mad, its on the Fader! I’m just saying, the track was that memorable. Shout out to Wonka. This song is in support of the non-profit Santa Cause. To learn more and donate, click here.
