Danny Brown – Dirty Laundry (Video)

Danny Brown is officially done with his musical hiatus. The Detroit born-and-bred rapper just released his new video “Dirty Laundry”. His Viceland show, Danny’s House, is doing quite well, so Danny has announced a new album, uknowwhatimsayin, scheduled to be released December 4th. The album will be exectuive produced by Q-Tip, who also laced the beat for “Dirty Laundry”.
Danny himself said;

“This is [Q-Tip’s] album. I can’t take no credit. I’m just an actor in his movie,” he continued. “Which was so much less stressful for me, working on albums and stuff. A lot of sleepless nights working on songs and stuff. Now, I ain’t have to worry about it. I had just had to show up and rap which made it back fun for me again.”

Leonardo DiCaprio & Jonah Hill Team Up With Q-Tip For New Hip-Hop Drama Series

qtip

As long as it’s nothing in the veins of Love & Hip-Hop. From Deadline Hollywood:

Grammy-winning hip-hop artist Q-Tip is partnering with Wolf Of Wall Street co-stars, Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill, to develop a scripted TV series loosely based on the rapper’s experience during the Native Tongue era. There is no writer yet for the drama project, which will be produced through DiCaprio’s production company Appian Way and is expected to be taken out to networks next week. Q-Tip, who has been friends with DiCaprio for a long time, is a founding member of the acclaimed hip hop group A Tribe Called Quest, which he started in 1985 with his high school friends Phife Dawg, Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Jarobi White. The drama project will draw from Q-Tip’s experiences with the group and with The Native Tongues collective that A Tribe Called Quest was a member of, which brought together late 1980s and early 1990s hip-hop artists known for their positive-minded, Afrocentric lyrics. The show will reflect on the stories of their friendship and how their music played a part in culture then and influenced the music of today. Q-Tip is repped by CAA; DiCaprio is with LBI; and Hill is with WME and LBI. DiCaprio and Hill currently star in Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf Of Wall Street, which is nominated for two Golden Globes on Sunday, best film – comedy or musical – and best actor, DiCaprio.

Q-Tip: No Diss To Kanye, But F*ck Wearing A Confederate Flag

AllHipHop reports:

Q-Tip not only supports Kanye West but also fully believes he’s a new slave. After Kanye’s vocal support of wearing the confederate flag and selling confederate flag-themed merchandise on his Yeezus tour, Q-Tip voiced his disapproval.

Kanye had this to say about wearing Confederate flag with People Magazine below:

You know the Confederate flag represented slavery in a way – that’s my abstract take on what I know about it. So I made the song ‘New Slaves.’ So I took the Confederate flag and made it my flag. It’s my flag. Now what are you going to do?

Hiatus Kaiyote Feat. Q-Tip – Nakamarra

Don’t know how Australian group Hiatus Kaiyote got Q-Tip on the record (oh wait, I do — because they’re freakin’ dope), but they got him. They’re officially under boutique label Flying Buddha, who is planning to re-releasing their debut album Tawk Tomahawk come 16th July. It only makes sense that this would be on that project, right?

Q-Tip Lectures At The Red Bull Music Academy

Q-Tip is one of hip hop’s greatest MCs and producers. As a member of A Tribe Called Quest, he helped to shape the sound of hip hop throughout the ’90s. The group’s exceptional run of full-lengths became a blueprint for MCs looking to balance the literate and the absurd, as well as producers searching for the perfect (and unexpected) break—Tribe’s influence is pretty much unmatched in hip hop circles. Since Tribe’s split in 1998, Q-Tip has kept busy with a solo career that has included four albums as well as countless productions and guest appearances in places both expected (Mary J. Blige, Kanye West, and Jay-Z) and improbable (Chemical Brothers, R.E.M.). He has also honed his DJ chops, spinning regularly in New York City and beyond.

Says Jay-Z:

“The Great Gatsby is that classic American story of one’s introduction to extravagance, decadence and illusion. It’s ripe for experimentation and ready to be interpreted with a modern twist. The imagination Baz brought to ‘Moulin Rouge!’ made it a masterpiece, and ‘Romeo + Juliet’s’ score wasn’t just in the background; the music became a character. This film’s vision and direction has all the makings of an epic experience”

Check out the track list below. The soundtrack will hit stores on May 7 via Interscope with Target selling a 17 song deluxe edition.
