From Billboard:

Mary J. Blige, Maxwell, Jill Scott, A$AP Rocky and Rick Ross are among the first wave of Staples Center performers announced for the BET Experience at L.A. Live music festival (June 27-29). This marks the second year of the event, an alliance between BET Networks and AEG Live, the developer/operator of L.A. Live and Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles.

The aforementioned Maxwell, Scott and Marsha Ambrosius will kick off the first night of Staples Center shows on June 27. Then A$AP Rocky, Ross, K. Michelle, Ty Dolla $ign and August Alsina will hit the stage on June 28, along with a special hip-hop reunion to be announced. Blige will close out the concert offerings on June 29 with Trey Songz, Jennifer Hudson and Tamar Braxton.

Single-day tickets and three-day packages, plus a limited number of gold and diamond VP packages for the entire weekend go on sale this Friday (March 14) here. As with last year’s launch, the 2014 BET Experience will also feature tapings of the channel’s signature show “106 & Park,” comedy shows, the BET Fan Fest, the Music Matters Stage spotlighting emerging acts, Grammy Museum exhibits, a food festival and lifestyle seminars.

Boasting A-list concerts headlined by Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Miguel, J. Cole, R. Kelly and more, last year’s festival drew more than 100,000 attendees.

UPDATE: The numbers are in — Rick Ross’ Mastermind officially tops Billboard with about 185,000 units sold, which Pharrell coming in second with about 110K (BUT, over in the UK, Pharrell hits number one, so congrats to both). Ashanti did marginally better than expected with 28,000 copies sold.

****************************************

So, the forecasts are in for three big album that dropped this week, and — courtesy of Hits Daily Double — they are:

Rick Ross – Mastermind: 145-160K
Pharrell Williams – G I R L: 85-95K
Ashanti – Braveheart: 18-21K

I’m not surprised at all by any of the above numbers for varying reasons (sorry Ashanti, you’re along way from Murder Inc….but you probably know that already).

Rick Ross Drops New Teaser Video For ‘Rich Is Gangsta’, Reveals The Existence Of ‘Maybach Music V’

Above is the teaser video for Rick Ross’ next clip, ‘Rich Is Gangsta’ (one of the better tracks taken from the newly released Mastermind). Below, he reveals to MTV (during his recent RapFix Live segment) that there is a continuation of his highly-coveted ‘Maybach Music’ series, and Bobby Womack is a part of the fifth installment.

P.S. Another interesting part of this interview is when he was asked about his correctional officer past, which — through his more commonly known brand of hazy responses — he said that he’d do again if he had to.

Rick Ross Responds To 50 Cent Diss….By Not Responding At All

From TMZ:

50 Cent may have been hoping to start a blood feud when he publicly insinuated Rick Ross and Diddy were gay lovers … but sources close to Ross tell us there will be NO reprisals.

Sources tell us Ross won’t retaliate for one simple reason — he doesn’t give a crap about 50 Cent or anything he says — he thinks 50 is IRRELEVANT.

We’re told Rick plans to let it slide … he wants to focus on making hit records … and not on a childish beef with an old enemy.
