In the first feature on our site, we sit down for a candid interview with Sha Money XL. During Part 1 of our 4 part series, Sha talks about the early G-Unit days. How he first met 50, how they started in the mixtape game, and how important that independence was. We then talk about the influence that G-Unit’s days on the indy scene had on the new generation of rappers. When asked how influential The Unit was to today’s artists, Sha said “We are the ones that started that. It used to be, mixtapes were a combination of a DJ’s favorite music from all their artists. We turned that into, ‘No!’. this is an album that we’re giving away for free”. Sha goes on to compare their mixtape run to those of his new artist on Def Jam Big K.R.I.T. – Al Lindstrom
