Hundreds of independent record stores in the U.S. have signed a letter criticizing music superstars Jay-Z and Kanye West for signing exclusive release deals with iTunes and Best Buy for their Watch the Throne collaboration.

Music’s dynamic duo have agreed to make the release available to iTunes customers on Aug. 8, four days ahead of everyone else, while Best Buy will exclusively sell the deluxe album till Aug. 23.

The Alliance of Independent Media Stores released a letter Friday saying the deals are “bad news” and asks the singing duo to reconsider allowing more than 1,700 indie retailers equal access to the record release on the same day as iTunes and Best Buy.
