According to sources cited by Billboard, GRAMMY winners Jay-Z and Kanye West’s Watch The Throne sold approximately 290,000 downloads at the iTunes Store for the week ending Aug. 14, breaking iTunes’ single-week U.S. sales record that was previously held by Coldplay’s Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends, which sold 282,000 units during its first week in 2008. Watch The Throne was made available exclusively at iTunes from Aug. 8–11 prior to its full release on Aug. 12, and analysts are projecting the album will debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with first-week sales reaching approximately 450,000.
