Earlier this year Michael Kiwanuka was declared the BBC’s Sound of 2012, and his debut album certainly looks like it has the commercial appeal to build on the hype. As Alexis Petridis noted in today’s Film&Music review, Home Again is the nearest thing to a racing certainty in these turbulent times for rock and pop. Petridis went on to praise the record for sounding “natural rather than forced or calculating” adding “there’s something beguiling about its warm, live sound”.
