Azealia Banks (@AZEALIABANKS) – Hypetrak TV Interview (@hypetrak)

There is no denying that 2012 has been a big year for Azealia Banks. With a string of critically-acclaimed releases, a high number of visually demanding music videos, as well as close ties with some of the fashion industry’s most prominent designers, the Harlemite made sure that her voice was heard far and beyond this year. Now, Ms. Banks is readying the oft-delayed yet highly anticipated debut album ‘Broke With Expensive Taste’, due early next year, which is set to further increase her rising reputation on the music scene but also to feature a trend-setting new sound for the future. We spoke to the 21-year old artist during her recent visit in Hong Kong to perform at the music festival Clockenflap and touched upon subjects like her favorite 2012 music release, her surprising opinion on rap music, the effect of branding on a recording artist’s career, some details on ‘Broke With Expensive Taste’. Expect some quotables as you watch the conversation above.

Drake isn’t too happy with retailer apparently taking ‘YOLO’, slapping it onto some clothing and making lots of money off of it. If Drake doesn’t legally own the term, he really can’t do anything about it. In addition, someone else has claimed creatorship:

@BarackObama, @Frank_Ocean & More ‘LGBT Heroes Of 2012’

From the Examiner:

Today, CNN called Barack Obama and Frank Ocean the LGBT heroes of 2012. We would also add Madonna to the list for standing up for the gay community in Russia, even though she was threatened with physical and even financial damage.

Overall, it was a year when civil rights for gays and lesbians took on many new strides. With gay marriage being legalized everywhere and even our own president changing his position on gay rights, 2012 will be a year to remember. Let’s take a look at the three most important figures in LGBT rights this year.

Video Models Sue @Tyga….For Exposing Their Nipples (In Explicit Video)

So, Alissa Rae Ross, Elizabeth Velasquez and Azia Davis are suing Tyga for breach of contract, fraud and invasion of privacy. In laymen’s terms: these chicks decided to be featured in an explicit video, titled ‘Make It Nasty’ no doubt, and are now mad because the unedited version has leaked, featuring not much more than they were already showcasing in the visual. Good luck with that one, ladies.

@SugeKnight & Katt Williams (@KattPackAllDay) In Brawl; Reportedly Ran Over Someone With A Car?

C’mon son. From TMZ:

As TMZ first reported, Suge and Katt were involved in a massive brawl last night outside of Eden nightclub in Hollywood. When the dust settled, Suge sped out of the parking lot and nearly ran over several people.

TMZ caught with up a guy who says he was hit by Suge … and had the limp to prove it. The guy didn’t seem upset with Suge, but he was PISSED OFF at Katt, telling us, “Katt Williams is a punk. You talk sh*t and run? You a punk .. You taking all that sh*t, and you talk about you all that, and you run? Because of you, I got hit by the car!”

The guy also says he wants Katt to pay his medical bills …

Speaking of Katt Williams, he was also in the news for (among other things) being charged for child reckless endangerment.

UPDATE: Kanye West (@KanyeWest) Rants About Grammys, Lady Gaga & More During Atlantic City Freestyle

UPDATE: During his show in Atlantic City (Revel), Kanye decided to rant about everything from his ill-fated Lady Gaga tour to fashion to any other aspiration he felt like griping about at the time, going into a quasi-freestyle over a chilled ‘Clique’ backdrop. Check it out below:

I really don’t see this as a very big deal, but Kanye West rocked some probably more-expensive-than-your-car face masks (one, a crystal mask, by Maison Martin Margiela) during his show at Revel in AC. Check out some pics below and enjoy the wobbly footage above.

UPDATE: Plenty more performance vids below the pics.

Chris Brown (@ChrisBrown) Allegedly Removes @Karrueche Tran Tattoo

chris-brown-karrueche-tattoo

UK’s tabloid newspaper The Sun claims that Chris Brown has removed a tattoo symbolizing his ex….until there’s a confirmation, you can take this one as if it’s a rumor:

CHRIS BROWN has emerged as a strong rival to JOHNNY DEPP in the romance stakes.

But RIHANNA’s fella didn’t go for something obvious like name a part of his grounds after her.

He had a tattoo of his ex’s name removed as a love gesture.

It really was the only option for him. I spent 45 minutes trying to think of extra letters you could add or ink over KARRUECHE TRAN to avoid laser action and drew a blank.
