The fiesty female rapper was notably absent from her seat as the program hit TV screens on Wednesday.
Presenter Ryan Seacrest made light of the situation as Nicki struggled to make it to the studio after getting stuck in traffic.
“Which one of you gave Nicki the wrong directions today? Which one of you drained the fuel from her car?” he joked.
Mariah – who has famously had her differences with Nicki throughout the course of the show – remained silent throughout, simply shaking her head disapprovingly.
When she eventually arrived she took her place alongside the rest of the panel wearing a black tracksuit with her hood up.
