From The Sun:

A statue of Amy Winehouse could soon be keeping watch over her old stomping ground in Camden, after the council gave it the green light.

The life-sized tribute will stand on a first floor balcony outside the Roundhouse music venue in Chalk Farm – just yards away from the home where she died in July 2011.

It will show the Back to Black star in a short dress, leaning against the wall and looking or pointing towards the North London district.

The bronze statue – the brainchild of Amy’s father Mitch Winehouse – have now been given the green light by Town Hall planners, despite some objections.

Some fans objected to artist Scott Eaton’s designs, and conservationists told Camden Council it was too early to honour the late singer, the Camden New Journal newspaper reports.

But the memorial will go ahead – on the condition that it is not lit up at night.
