Nosaj Thing is particularly picky when approaching vocalists, and as a hip-hop head, that goes double for rappers. The only other emcee he’s collaborated with besides Chance the Rapper is Kendrick Lamar.

On Acid Rap, Chance stretches syllables across such a dizzyingly diverse assortment of sounds and styles that one wonders which instrument is sharper, his ears or his pen? While still in training, Chance wrestled with Nosaj Thing beats for target practice, humbly admitting as much to Jason just as their “Songs from Scratch” session was gathering steam.

This session was spontaneous combustion; two forcible factors colliding in a confined space to produce a known quantity. “Paranoia” the results of that collision, is available for download tomorrow.
