The folksy Southern cooking queen tearfully took to NBC “Today” show Wednesday for the first time to talk about the racism scandal that has rocked her cooking empire. She said that she is in “somewhat in a state of shock” over what she said has been “hurtful lies said about me.”
Asked by host Matt Lauer whether she was a racist, Deen said, “No, I’m not.”
“If there’s anyone out there that has never said something that they wished they could take back, if you’re out there, people pick up that stone and throw it so hard that it kills me,” Deen said near the end of her interview.

Swizz Beatz stopped by VIBE‘s office to speak on his involvement on Hov’s upcoming album. He also spoke on the marketing plan through Samsung and Billboard not counting the first million sales.
He was being innovative. Some people—they can’t relate to innovation. It’s his album [so] he can do what he wants to do. He’s earned the rights to do whatever he wants to do. Reese, whose real name is Tavares Taylor, can add a misdemeanor theft charge to his growing rap sheet following his Saturday arrest, the Sun-Times reports.
According to court records, Taylor is accused of giving “false documentation to obtain” a 2006 BMW 750 Li in April; the Sun-Times said both police and prosecutors divulged few other details after Reese was taken into custody.
The 20-year-old appeared in bond court Sunday where his bail was set at $5,000, the Associated Press reports.
Reese was arrested in April on a downstate warrant stemming from a 2012 video that police say shows the rapper beating a woman during a party.

Aaron Hernandez is in police custody after being arrested at his home on Wednesday morning.
The Patriots tight end has been part of an investigation into the death of Odin Lloyd, an associate of Hernandez’s who was found dead near the player’s house. Police believe Lloyd was killed by a gunshot to the head sometime between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. on June 17.
Multiple reports said Hernandez was taken from his North Attleborough home in what appeared to be handcuffs at about 8:45 a.m. Eastern time.
NFL Network showed video of about seven police officials showing up at Hernandez’s door on Wednesday morning. Hernandez answered the door and the police entered. Hernandez had a white shirt pulled over his arms, which were secured behind his back, and he was led into the police cruiser. The arrest was captured on video by the cameras that have been camped out by Hernandez’s house for a week.
