US Capitol Police CERT 005

People aren’t feeling the government right now because of the lockdown, and today, someone opened fire on the Capitol. We don’t have all the details but will keep you updated.

Washington Post reports:

Shots were fired outside the U.S. Capitol Thursday afternoon and Capitol police were telling people to shelter in place. The incident appeared to begin around 2:19 p.m. and Capitol police say the Capitol was locked down.
Officers with semi-automatic weapons were seen running for the exits on the first floor of the House side of the Capitol. Reports of shots inside were unconfirmed.
As of 2:26, the Senate floor was still open and the Senate was on the floor, but police were in the hallways, reporters on the scene said.

At 2:27, Senators were seen milling about and it did not appear to be as big a deal on the Senate side.

Sen. Charles Schumer has confirmed there have been shots fired outside the U.S. capitol.

No one would say whether any shots were fired inside the capitol.

Sentate Sergeant at Arms Terrance W. Gainer told reporters there were reports of injuries.

I am told shooter has been arrested. House floor activity stopped for now
