Memphis rapper Yo Gotti recently released his latest full-length album, I Am, last month. In a recent sit down session with Muve Music and Cricket Wireless, Gotti broke the album down. Gotti spoke about the album’s title track, recording the track “I Know” with Atlanta emcee Rich Homie Quan, as well as some the albums content matter.
“I actually recorded this song [“I Am”] right here in Miami, in South Beach. It’s produced by Cool & Dre. And I say this is one of the later songs I actually recorded on the album. This track here is a short summary of my life and everything I was going through,” said the Memphis spitter. “It’s one my favorite tracks on the album.”
Speaking on his collaboration with Rich Homie Quan on the track “I Know” Yo Gotti says, “We recorded that track in Atlanta and I just think it’s a club banger. I think when you hear this here and you’re sitting down you’re gonna stand up. If you in the club you gonna turn up. And we’re just basically telling you that we know a lot of things you may not know.”
Lastly, Gotti spoke on the track “Sorry” and its concept: “This record is basically telling a girl that a man going to be a man regardless. It got nothing to do with you, it got nothing to do with how you gon’ act. We gon’ do regardless. I’m basically telling her I’m sorry.” He also spoke on the track, saying that whether you’re male or female you can relate to its subject matter.
