From NME:

The Black Keys have revealed that their new album ‘Turn Blue’ features both their longest ever song and their first foray into sampling.

The record, which is set for release on May 12, will feature 11 tracks. Scroll down for a full tracklisting. ‘Turn Blue’ will be The Black Keys’ eighth album, and follows their 2011 release ‘El Camino’.

Speaking to NME as part of this week’s issue, on newsstands and available digitally from tomorrow (April 8), the pair admit to being in a unique position, as their eighth album is their most hotly anticipated to date.

Taking inspiration from spaghetti-western styled work of Italian movie soundtrack composer and singer Nico Fidenco. ‘Year In Review’ has a snippet of Fidenco on it and is, according to drummer Patrick Carney, “the first song we’ve ever used a sample on”. ‘Turn Blue’ also includes The Black Keys’ longest ever song, album opener ‘Weight Of Love’, which comes in at almost seven minutes long. “I’ve never done a guitar solo like that,” frontman Dan Auerbach said.

‘Turn Blue’ was produced by Danger Mouse alongside Auerbach and Carney and was recorded at Sunset Sound in Hollywood last summer. Auerbach reveals to NME that he and Carney left the studio just once in two weeks while recording.
