This year’s BET Awards (one of the best we’ve seen in a while, to be honest) saw host Regina Hall — a proud D.C. native — open up the show with a massive Go-Go tribute feature Sugar Bear, EU and (another D.C. native) fellow actress Taraji P. Henson. Check that out below:

Added to that are two other clips: one being a pre-cursor to the Go-Go tribute which saw Regina prepping for the show, and Regina addressing gentrification’s effects on the city.

Finally, extra props go out to Suitland’s own YBN Cordae, who assisted H.E.R. with a rousing performance of a single titled “Lord Is Coming.” Check that amazing set out below…,you can enjoy even more from this year’s BET Awards (including tribute performances by Mary J. Blige and for Nipsey Hussle) here.
