Pharrell Sheds Tears Of Joy In Oprah Interview (Video)

Spotted on MTV:

Oprah Winfrey sure knows how to bring the emotions out of people, and on Sunday night on “Oprah Prime,” the veteran journalist and media mogul brought the oh-so-cool Pharrell Williams to tears.

“Why am I crying on ‘Oprah’?” P asked rhetorically, fighting its way through his tears.

During the interview, Williams spoke to the Big O about his #1 Billboard single “Happy” and its slow burn to the top of the charts. “Zero airplay, nothing,” P said of the single he released in June as a part of the “Despicable Me 2” soundtrack. “And next thing you know we put the video on November 21st, all of a sudden, boom.”

The “boom” that Pharrell referred to was the viral explosion of fan-made “Happy” videos, which came from all across the world. When Oprah showed the multiplatinum producer a compilation of all of those different fan videos, he was moved to tears.

“It’s overwhelming because I love what I do and I just appreciate the fact that people have believed in me for so long, that I can make it to this point to feel that,” he said through tears as he pointed to Oprah’s video screen.

Katy Perry set a new record on the Billboard’s Pop Songs chart, topping a record previously held by Mariah Carey for the most weeks at No. 1, thus claiming that she “dethroned” MC — JD then gave his honest opinion on all the above.

Rico Love Explains Situation Regarding Tiara Thomas, Wale (Video)

The issue has been addressed a few times before by all parties, but during a visit to Sway In The Morning, Rico Love spoke on the evident triangle that is him, his artist Tiara Thomas and Thomas’ former mentee Wale.

Rico Love, is a singer-songwriter and producer who was behind hit records such as Usher’s There Goes My Baby and Hey Daddy (Daddy’s Home), as well as Beyoncé Knowles’ Sweet Dreams, just to name a few.

His latest project? Tiara Thomas — the recognizable female voice on Wale’s hit, Bad.

There has been rumors of beef and betrayal between Rico Love, Tiara Thomas and Wale — and Rico stopped by Sway in the Morning to clear the air.

“I met her [through Wale’s partner], and the first thing I said was, ‘Why Wale didn’t sign her?’ She’s amazing, I can’t believe this.” Love tells Sway in the Morning.

“I ended up offering her a contract, we negotiated on the contract.” Rico explained. “After we negotiated, she gave ‘Bad’ to Wale on his mixtape. No one ever said this was gonna be Wale’s single.”

He goes on to explain how Wale’s emotion makes him a genius, “but sometimes that can hurt you when you don’t know how to separate it,” in reference to business deals.

“It got so bad where his assistant was on the line threatening her and a bunch of stuff like that.”

DJ Envy Confronts DJ Drama On ‘The Breakfast Club’ (Video)

Among other reasons for Drama to come to the show (mainly speaking on working with Atlantic records and the Atlantic scene — Young Thug, Que, etc. — in general), there was apparently a conflict between he and obvious friend Envy regarding an earlier disconnect involving the two rivalries of Power 105 and Hot 97. According to Envy, there was a project that was supposed to be in the works before DJ Drama backed out to avoid issues with the rival station. Check it that (and the rest of the interview) for yourself above.
