Nas Speaks On Collaboration With JAY Z, Justin Timberlake & Timbaland
The below excerpt is taken from a recent interview with The Huffington Post. I do hope we hear the song in question soon.
One particular track off the album that has piqued fans’ interest is, “Sinatra In The Sands,” featuring Justin Timberlake and Jay Z. What was the recording process like?
Excitement… Excitement to work and be in the place that we’re all are at, musically. Those are the guys who lasted the test of time, and those guys are at the top of their game. They’re just company to be in. So that’s the whole vibe of that. And of course the title says it all.Lyrically, where are you taking fans on the track?
More like from a musician’s stand point, someone who’ve been around. Because Sinatra has been around and he has a long, long standing with the stage and the audience for years. And he evolved. His talent got better just like wine. And I think that’s something a lot of people want to achieve. So that’s what this song is really about. Striving to be the best you, like Sinatra had become.

DOOM Tells the Stories Behind Some of his Best Verses

Although Doom is apparently trapped in London (?????), he’s been just as creative as ever, and took the time to explain 10 of his best-known verses to XXL. A snippet is below, more here.
Oh yeah, “Beef Rap.” Good song. Good choice. I just think it’s a funny word. I don’t get angry at this point, so [rap beef] is like whatever. The challenge is what it’s about with me, the challenge of being such a picky topic to handle. Also, the double entendre with the word beef, the way it’s perceived in the street world and it’s a food—a so-called food—so how it’s perceived in the nutritional realm. The fact that there’s two things that correlate there gave me enough metaphors to play with. But it’s all fun. I always do it with something that’s fun. Anger is something I don’t deal with.

Dom Kennedy – VIBE Magazine Interview
Dom Kennedy isn’t your typical L.A. rapper. He doesn’t flash gang signs and he doesn’t carry a red or blue rag. However, he does have the ears of hip-hop fans from Watts to Brooklyn—and beyond.
As an Indy artist, the Leimert Park native developed his own cult following with a string of mixtapes and album since 2008. Combining lyrics that focus mostly on the best perks of the California lifestyle: promiscuous women., good weed and house parties that rock all night long has gained him a loyal fanbase. Through his own company O.P.M. (Other People’s Money), Dom also inked his very own deal with Best Buy. For the first time, the mega chain picked up his newly released album, Get Home Safely, but that didn’t come without a very crucial hiccup. One week before the album’s scheduled Oct. 15 release date, Best Buy locations put the project on sale without warning.
