STEFisDOPE & Suede Moccasins – 88 (Mixtape)
Stef and his producer Suede Moccasins drop a 9-song commentary on rap and the past…
1988 was a milestone year for music, art, fashion, & politics. Public Enemy, Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, & N.W.A. all released classic albums, Crack made it’s debut in city streets across the United States, & the Iran-Contra scandal was exposed. It was a year of creativity, exploration, enlightenment, & global revolution. On the 30th day of September in 1988, this is the day STEFisDOPE was born. Growing up in the late 80’s, early 90’s, & 2000’s, STEF is part of the millenial generation that transitioned into the internet & social media age. From analog to digital. This album “1988” is an audio expression from a 26-year old Black male perspective, covering a range of topics from politics, race, love, sex, revolution, & the hustle it takes to survive in the modern world. It’s a 9-song project that began production in 2012. With the album’s sole production from Suede Moccasins, the vibe is a blend of nostalgia fortified with modern drums & 808s along with STEF’s witty wordplay & lyricism. Take a trip down memory lane & find out why STEF’s been DOPE SINCE ‘88.
