One of our favorite Southern rappers, the extremely underrated Don Trip just released part three of his Human Torch mixtape series. Expect heavy self-deprecating lyricism from the well-rounded MC as well as quality production from Yung Ladd, DJ Toomp and others. I didn’t expect to see Cool & Dre on the track listing, considering Trip left his recent major label deal a year ago. I don’t know what the current situation is now, but who cares? He’s still making good music, hopefully he can make a living from it.

Kur is like Meek Mill on steroids. The Philadelphia rapper’s new mixtape How It Never Was, might position him as Meek’s protege. He raps faster (“Energy,” Never Before), better (“Up”) and has more diverse subject matter (“Doggie Dog,” “Project Nights”). Kur can paint a picture of life in the “trenches” of Philadelphia’s neighborhoods or do lyrical acrobatics and amazing speeds. I do wish he rapped less about girls and clothes and more about getting his mother out of the hood. How It Never Was will probably propel Kur into the ears of many listeners nation-wide, thanks to help from Meek Mill and company. But, will anything be better than “When I Lost It”? That song is easily my pick for best rap song of 2015.
Oochie dedicates on to the neighborhood with “Deanwood. I really like this new flow…Shot by FoolwiththeCamera.
OC cranks on “OC Shit,” shot by FoolwiththeCamera. This track reminds me of some old New Orleans rap.

The project is named after his record label and has a bunch of great drug raps, boastful trap tales and sad stories about life up in Bmore. Features and beats from Turk Ro, Zaytoven, Nito, Cino Ro, Sly Drexler, etc.
Sweizy goes in over Glizzy’s “Score.” This video was shot in the studio by YSE.
Rambo drops the grind-hard introduction to his new mixtape No Excuses.
DC’s Baraq links with ATL’s Peewee Longway for a strong new track called “Struggle.” MPC Cartel on the beat.
AVA’s Big Ka$h samples Tupac for the introspective track “Changes.” Ka$h goes in on the beat and the rhymes. His new project YAMS is coming soon. “Changes” is produced by LocoBeatz703
Future revisits Beast Mode for a visual ode to the lavish life. Shootrr directed “Where I Came From,” which juxtaposes the Atlanta rapper’s gritty past with his successful present.
2ND UPDATE: Unverified source claims that a challenge from Migos’ lawyer has allowed Quavo and Takeoff to pay bail. Offset is supposedly denied bail.
UPDATE: Everyone is denied bond, although
During a concert at Georgia Southern University yesterday, the Migos were taken of stage, questioned and then arrested by the Bullouch County Sheriff’s department. According to TMZ, Quavo and Offset were arrested for felony possession of Cocaine, Codeine, Oxycontin, misdemeanor possession of Marijuana, and carrying a gun on a school campus (also a felony.) It is clear from photos that Offset (and other members of the YRN crew) were also arrested, but we are uncertain about the charges. Migos debut LP, YRN Tha Album, is set for a June release. They also have the upcoming Yung Rich Nation Tour, with QC label-mate OG Maco. You can view photos and social media posts from their booking and initial court hearing below.
