Last Friday night, DC White came back home and brought half of Atlanta with him for the first TrapFest show at the Howard Theatre, organized with Benny T. The sold-out, midnight event was smaller but energetic and featured some of DC and Atlanta’s best known rappers. White, Jose Guapo, Lil Duke (aka YSL Duke or MPA Duke) Hoodrich Pablo and Chicago’s Yung Gwapa performed as well as a number of local artists — Oochie, Foams SB, Money Montana, Boss DC, Yung Steph, etc. Even though they didn’t perform, Alley Boy, Mojo, Kushy Stash, AB Icee, Iceberg Lo, Big Flock and a bunch of others also came out in support. Basically, anyone making Trap Rap in D.C. or Atlanta (or someone they were affiliated with) was there. Shout out to SWE and everyone who showed love. If we forgot to add your name in the vlog just comment and we’ll make a note.

Johnny Cinco – #Cinco2 Vlogs
Yesterday DGB premiered a new Vlog from Johnny Cinco’s amazing, upcoming mixtape, which reminded me a still needed to post part 1. Two short glimpses into the sessions of what will probably be an amazing follow-up to Cinco: Reloaded.

OC Hermo links with his Hard Workin’ homie Choc for “Still,” produced by Young Clip. These two are still totin’ and still tokin’. FoolwiththeCamera is behind the dope visual…
Chip – Too Greedy (Prod. By Metro Boomin)
Landstrip Chip and Metro Boomin drop a true hit of a melodic club banger. Also check out a track Chip did with Sonny last month that we somehow missed…one of the most underrated in the A.
AB Icee – Big Tymer (Video)
When AB Icee was down in Atlanta for A3C, he and Clipstar TV shot a lavish video for his track “Big Tymers” from the Thriller mixtape. Clipstar’s close-up shots and great use of color compliments Icee’s echoing, spacey vocals. Both are very understated. Basically, you either get it or you don’t.
Lightshow – Jumpman (Remix)

We’re late but…Lightshow does his own take over Future and Drake and he really blacked out. The SE DC rapper is also doing a free show with DMC and 2 Live Crew (that’s no typo) tomorrow for Rock The Vote. Check the flyer above.

CBE – Chuuurchonometry Vol. 1 (Hosted by Bigga Rankin)

Last week, CBE’s Uptown Killa and Lil Tay celebrated the release of their new mixtape, Chuuurchonometry Volume 1, hosted by Bigga Rankin. Today, we have an exclusive stream of the project. Rick Flare produced the majority of these songs, helping to craft a unique sound with Tay and Killa. Chuuurchonometry Vol. 1 isn’t quite “Trap Rap” or more traditional “Hip Hop.” CBE’s sound is somewhere in-between and unique, Street Rap with two distinct voices and stories over original production. This is the new Uptown sound. The mixtape is available for purchase on iTunes, with hard copies also available. If you like it, purchase a copy.
AB Icee – Gang (Video)
Icee and Clipstar link up once again for one of my favorites off of the Thriller project, the floaty, deconstructed “Gang.” Who else is making music like this? Nobody.
3 Glizzy Ft. Doe Glizzy – We Got Plenty (Video)
Glizzy Gang comes out at night for the Kendall Mathis visual. Although we didn’t know him personally, RIP to Mari from 37th, who was killed after this video was shot. Be Careful is out now. You can also check out a previously unreleased 3 Glizzy track below.

Two of our favorite local artists go in over one of Future and Drake’s latest.
Shy Glizzy & Zaytoven – For Trappers Only (Mixtape)

Shy Glizzy’s highly anticipated new mixtape, For Trappers Only, was just released. FTO is the first project after his XXL Freshman cover and is Zaytoven’s most recent collaboration. Shy is the latest in a list of notable Trap Rappers to drop a whole tape with the ATL-based producer, and the only one so far to be from outside Atlanta. For Trappers Only features buzzing UK rapper Danny Seth, the Sauce Twinz from Houston, Boosie, Ty$, the late Dex Osama and Shy’s brother 3.
Premiere: Foams SB – Nitro (Video)
Shout out to the most underrated in SB, the homie Foams gives us a brand new video to premiere. Surrounded by endless empty lean bottles, Foams moves the work like “Nitro” on the ShotbyLucas intro to his recently released Mind Gone mixtape.
Lightshow – If These Walls Could Talk (Mixtape)
Lightshow is having quite a break-through year, with music on ESPN, songs with Kap G, and what seems like a steadily expanding fan base. To celebrate that, the Southeast DC rapper has just released his latest mixtape, If These Walls Could Talk, hosted by DJ Dynamite. The project has Trap tales, prayers, songs about relationships, the usual diversity you can expect from Lightshow, as well as some standout features from Icewear Vezzo and Kap. Production from Yung Lan, Mark Henry, Beat Zombie, Slick Go Ham and others. Enjoy.
