In August/September, DC-area artist Rico Nasty dropped a mixtape titled Sugar Trap and released a video for the colourful track ‘Hey Arnold’. Now, you can definitely expect that track to go viral thanks to the aid of Atlanta’s Lil Yachty.
Check out the new version of ‘Hey Arnold’, along with the mixtape and visual below.

Goo Glizzy – Gustavo (Mixtape)
Is this the year Goo Glizzy finally takes his well-deserved rise to the big-time? Gustavo might be the tape to do it. Only amazing tracks, a wide array too, not just “street” tracks, everything…Only great producers; AB The Pro, J5, Big Moon, Tweeze, ILL Wonka, Rick Flare and others. Enough said, just listen
JBdaPilot – Hometown Girl/Don’t Worry
How have we missed out on JBdaPilot? VA rapper has dropped some crazy heat this year (see below.) “Hometown Girl” is a predictable but excellent, R&B-tinged solo track. “Don’t Worry” is an excellent follow up. For more information and some bonus tracks we missed with Skyzoo and Phil Ade, read more below.
JBdaPilot takes a leaf out of Destiny’s Child’s book, sampling their 1999 hit “Say My Name,” reworking it into his own 2016 version with “Hometown Girl.” The C. Justice and Lex Q-produced track finds the Virginia Beach, VA native narrating a proverbial love story of college romance. The record is inspired by his own personal experiences, with JBdaPilot detailing what-if’s about his girl’s whereabouts all the way to him making a cheating admission. The melodic fifty-fifty sing-rap provides the perfect medium for the college kid to dish on his relationship distresses.
Rezt – Kirk (Prod. by Dolan)
We’ve been keeping our eyes out for new music from Rezt for a while. After a lot of missed releases, it’s nice to finally catch some crank (relatively) soon after it comes out. It’s produced by Dolan so you know “Kirk” bumps. Yes, that’s “Kirk” as in “Kirkin’ Kirk out”, etc. And “Kirk” he does.
G Star Giorgio – Trenches ft. Fucci Santino, Lul Rock
Giorgio and the G Star Boyz drop another heater. Tape soon? Hopefully?
30 Glizzy & DF Gizzle – Twin Glockz (Mixtape)
Clearly we’re sleeping because 30 and Gizzle dropped this fire tape with Hoodrich Keem two weeks ago and it should have been on here days ago. No features, all killer tracks, all repeatable. Don’t sleep like we did.
Lil Yachty Feat. Gucci Mane – Bentley Coupe
Two generations of Atlanta Hip-Hop link up on the new track ‘Bentley Coupe’, taken from (what we presume to be) Yachty’s upcoming album.
STREAM/DOWNLOAD: SOJA – Live In Virginia
We might as well be honest: as (mainly) purveyors of Hip-Hop, we didn’t truly dive into the sounds of Virginia Reggae/Rock band SOJA until after we learned that Alfred The MC (aka Mambo Sauce’s Black Boo) had a dope collaboration with them (we also learned that Mambo Sauce had toured with the band year’s ago).
Having created music since the turn of the century, you can find their catalog (and other cool stuff) via their official website; below, we’ve provided last week’s concert album release SOJA: Live In Virginia, which features the aforementioned Alfred The MC collaboration ‘Promises And Pills’ (via iTunes/Apple Music).
Rick Ross – I’m Da Man (Remix) (R.I.P. Shawty Lo)
Rick Ross decided to pay tribute to Shawty Lo with a freestyle over the late rapper’s ‘I’m Da Man’ instrumental.
Famous Dex Reportedly Signs With 300 Entertainment
Recent issues aside, it looks like Famous Dex is still moving forward with his career. According to outlets like DJ Akademiks, the Chicago rapper has inked a deal with Lyor Cohen’s 300 Entertainment.
Below, we’ve also included a remix of Dex’s ‘Geek On A Bitch’, featuring Polo Boy Shawty & PlayBoi Carti.
Lil Tay Ft. Big Flock – Voice Of The Streets (Video)
Honestly, the reason I haven’t posted this Lil Tay and Big Flock video sooner is because I’ve been busy cranking it nonstop. Check out their “Voice Of The Streets” video above, shot by Fool with the Camera.
Fat Trel – Broccoli (Remix)
Fat Trel tries his hand with D.R.A.M. and Lil Yachty’s collaboration.
