At 4:53 p.m. Tuesday, Palm Springs police were called to Belardo Road and South Palm Canyon Drive, where Covington, 67, crashed his Honda Civic into a retaining wall, according to the coroner’s report. The Palm Springs resident was not wearing a seat belt.
Covington was headed south on Belardo and crashed where the road curves to the east. The car hit a log at the bottom of the wall and the force of impact sent it flying onto an elevated driveway several feet above the crash site. A guest at the nearby Best Western Inn At Palm Springs tried to resuscitate Covington, who died at the scene. Police don’t believe alcohol or drugs were involved.
Family and friends believe that a heart attack or stroke caused the famed drummer to veer off the road, causing the fatal accident.
The easy joke here would simply be to play the below song, but nonetheless, the young Canadian singer that everyone loves to hate will be joining other ‘A-Listers’ as the next space travelers aboard Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic. So consider the aforementioned song celebration music (and a random reason to simply listen to some E. Badu).
A deranged, suicidal man ranting against the government used two knives to saw at his wrists outside the “Today” show Thursday morning.
The man was unkempt and in his 50s, witnesses said. He wore a grey T-shirt and white baseball cap when he staggered up to “Today” show fans outside 10 Rockefeller Plaza in midtown Manhattan and used broken English to tell anyone who would listen that the Internal Revenue Service was corrupt and that the agency “ruined his life.”
Witnesses said the man was ranting about the IRS and tossed a stack of papers in the air before cutting himself.
The lunatic was shouting about peppermint tea and trying to get bystanders to read a pile of papers — reportedly IRS documents of some sort — until he tossed the stack into the air about 7:50 a.m.
He then whipped out a pocket knife with three or four-inch blade and yelled “I’m going to cut myself!” twice before hacking at his own wrist.
Security guards tackled the man, who could be seen bleeding beneath a partition outside the studio.
Someone wrestled the blade from the loony before he pulled out a second knife and started cutting away at his other wrist. NYPD cops and plaza security guards rushed towards the man with pepper-spray and tackled him, sending him sprawling.
“It happened really fast — and then he was down,” said 21-year-old Jossie Edwards, a tourist from Easley, S.C.
An ABC6 crew was on assignment in Providence when they were assaulted in broad daylight. It started with a simple question that led to a violent response. The crew was on Public Street in Providence, attempting to get reaction from the mother of the teenage girl who was shot at a graduation party over the weekend.
Instead of declining to speak on-camera, Melissa Lawrence replied “OK, that’s good,” and then suddenly hurled a rock at ABC6 photographer Marc Jackson. The rock just missed the photographer’s head. The crew then started to leave, but Lawrence came out wielding a baseball bat. She then told her two dogs to attack.
Probably needless to say, the woman in question was later arrested.

I wasn’t really planning on posting the story (it’s just amazing how the media and it’s consumers become focused on the incident at hand rather than the message she was there to speak on in the first place), but I see (hear) that audio has surfaced of the incident (though certain notable parts are kind of inaudible with the crowd)…..so, here we go:
The most notable part of the event was an interruption from a protester about 12 minutes into the 20-minute speech. A pro-LGBT rights individual standing at the front began shouting for an executive order on gay rights. (Pool did not hear exactly what.)
“One of the things I don’t do well is this,” replied FLOTUS to loud applause. She left the lectern and moved over to the protester, saying they could “listen to me or you can take the mic, but I’m leaving. You all decide. You have one choice.”
Crowd started shouting that they wanted FLOTUS to stay.
“You need to go!” said one woman near the protester.
The protester was then escorted out, shouting “…lesbian looking for federal equality before I die.” (First part of the quote was inaudible.) Pool could not get their name before they were taken out.
“So let me make the point that I was making before,” continued FLOTUS. “We are here for our kids. So we must recapture that passion. That same urgency and energy that we felt back in 2008, 2012. Understand this — this is what I want you all to understand. This is not about us. No one back here. It’s not about you or you or your issue or your thing. This is about our children.”

Wale teamed up with Jordan Brand and Jake Ferrato’s JBF Customs for his specially-made Nike Air Jordan 3. Lil Durk was busted with a loaded .40-caliber handgun in Englewood early Wednesday after he threw the gun into his car as police approached, a source said.
The 20-year-old rapper, whose real name is Durk D. Banks, was picked up at about 3 a.m. in the 7200 block of South Green Street, police said.
Lil Durk was standing near a car when police rolled up to investigate a call of a man with a gun. As police arrived, Lil Durk was spotted tossing a gun into the car, a source said.
Police recovered the gun — a loaded .40-caliber — and arrested the rapper without incident, the source said.
Lil Durk, who has a suburban Melrose Park address, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and is expected in bond court on Thursday. It is his second offense, police said.
In Oct. 2011, he was hit with gun charges, including possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number. He later pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of aggravated unauthorized use of a weapon, according to court records.
The daughter of late singer Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown left a nasty note for one of her neighbors after she was evicted from her Atlanta-area apartment.
According to people who live in the Alpharetta, Georgia, apartment complex, 20-year-old Bobbi Kristina Brown and her on-again, off-again boyfriend Nick Gordon were the subject of at least ten different noise complaints.
“My friend and his family live in the apartment under Bobbi Kristina Brown (Whitney Houston’s daughter). After 6 months of complaints, she was finally kicked out. He found this on his door today,” a neighbor wrote on Reddit, sharing a photo of the note she apparently left.

UPDATE: So the 35-year old that was arrested along with Tulisa was in fact Mike GLC….in addition, they’ve both been released on bail and (GLC) has spoken on the matter in brief:
The police have since confirmed that both people have been bailed, pending further inquiries, until a date later in July.
The 35-year-old who was arrested and bailed along with Tulisa is a rapper called Mike GLC he spoke to reporters outside Belgravia Police station in central London.
“We are innocent. We haven’t been charged.” He added that any evidence caught on camera had been “taken out of context” and the duo were “set up”.

The former X Factor judge Tulisa Contostavlos has been arrested over the supply of class A drugs.
It was claimed the drug dealer then sold half an ounce of cocaine to them at London’s Dorchester Hotel.
When asked by Newsbeat, Tulisa’s management declined to comment on the story.
Asked about reports that Tulisa Contostavlos had been arrested the Met Police said: “Officers from Westminster have arrested two people – a 35-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman – on suspicion of supplying class-A drugs.
“They are in custody at a Central London police station.”
UPDATE: So, the manager in question is Lee “Freezy” Prince, who really is a die hard fan when it comes to the teams from his hometown, and for that, he gets my utmost respect (I come from an area where half it’s residents rep for a team halfway across the country, which is sad in itself). He spoke to MTV via email, and was pretty straightforward about it:
“The feeling of the Miami Heat win became too much for them, so when they got physical I got vocal….I’m not a fair weather fan; we go hard in Dade County.”

Jay-Z is about to ink a hugely lucrative deal with Samsung Mobile, sources tell Page Six. The contract is said to be worth as much as $20 million. One source said, “The eight-figure deal will be inked in the next few weeks, and is the biggest of its kind. You can speculate that he’ll want to develop some kind of new music-streaming service to promote his acts and music on mobile devices.”
