Kevin Durant Is Leaving OKC for Golden State

illo-kevin-durant-warriors-ftr-111715_vvc3jvn6tmis1hbhoy14qrj1b

We’ll just let him tell you (taken from the Players Tribune):

This has been by far the most challenging few weeks in my professional life. I understood cognitively that I was facing a crossroads in my evolution as a player and as a man, and that it came with exceptionally difficult choices. What I didn’t truly understand, however, was the range of emotions I would feel during this process.

The primary mandate I had for myself in making this decision was to have it based on the potential for my growth as a player — as that has always steered me in the right direction. But I am also at a point in my life where it is of equal importance to find an opportunity that encourages my evolution as a man: moving out of my comfort zone to a new city and community which offers the greatest potential for my contribution and personal growth. With this in mind, I have decided that I am going to join the Golden State Warriors.

I’m from Washington, D.C. originally, but Oklahoma City truly raised me. It taught me so much about family as well as what it means to be a man. There are no words to express what the organization and the community mean to me, and what they will represent in my life and in my heart forever. The memories and friendships are something that go far beyond the game. Those invaluable relationships are what made this deliberation so challenging.

It really pains me to know that I will disappoint so many people with this choice, but I believe I am doing what I feel is the right thing at this point in my life and my playing career.

I will miss Oklahoma City, and the role I have had in building this remarkable team. I will forever cherish the relationships within the organization — the friends and teammates that I went to war with on the court for nine years, and all the fans and people of the community. They have always had my back unconditionally, and I cannot be more grateful for what they have meant to my family and to me.

DMX IS Recovering Following Near-Death Due To Alleged Overdose

dmx

From NY Daily News:

Rapper DMX was recovering at the home of his ex-wife Wednesday after his near-death experience Monday night, his lawyer said.

[Murray] Richman said DMX spent six hours in a hospital emergency room after he was found with no pulse in the parking lot of a Ramada Inn in Yonkers.

After his release, the “Party Up (Up in Here)” performer returned to the hotel to pick up his belongings and made a beeline for [his ex-wife] Tashera’s house.

“He bounced right back,” Richman said Wednesday. “He’s doing fine. He’s going to be performing Saturday in Pennsylvania.”

While police described the hotel emergency as a possible overdose, Richman said it was related to a pre-existing medical condition.

“To the best of my knowledge, it was an asthma attack,” he said.

He said it likely was a coincidence that DMX regained semi-consciousness after receiving the opioid-reversal drug Narcan by first responders.

“The cops did a good job. I have to give them credit,” Richman said.

Police declined to identify DMX by name but said the 45-year-old victim in the Ramada parking lot reportedly ingested some form of powder before going into distress.

“That individual was found to be in a lifeless condition with no pulse, no respirations,” Lt. Patrick McCormack previously told The News, without naming the rapper.

He said officers immediately began CPR and administered oxygen, and after about a minute, the victim slowly began to gasp for air.

As ambulance personnel arrived, the first responders decided to administer Narcan intravenously, McCormack said. The victim quickly responded and became semi-conscious, he said.

Narcan has no effect on a patient who’s not overdosing.

McCormack said nothing illegal was found at the scene and no charges were pending.

Ciara Sues Future For $15 Million; Future Responds (Update)

UPDATE: Future has since responded — simply put, he doesn’t plan on giving Ciara a dime, especially since Ciara started the slander with the single ‘I Bet’.

From TMZ:

Ciara and Future’s war just got way more heated — she’s suing him for allegedly blasting her mothering skills and attacking her relationship with Russell Wilson … all to publicize his music.

In the suit … obtained by TMZ, Ciara calls out Future for a radio interview in which he discussed a now infamous photo of Wilson pushing Ciara and Future’s son in his stroller. Future said, “She probably set him [Russell] up. You letting them catch that photo. Leave my son out of all the publicity stunts.”

Ciara points out several other interviews, but she’s also pissed about her baby daddy’s Twitter rant in January when Future said, “This bitch got control problems … I gotta go through lawyers to see baby future … the f***ery for 15k a month.”

In the suit, Ciara says she goes out of her way to make sure Future sees their son — and says they’ve had at least 19 visitations (some spanning several days) since December 2014.

Remy Ma & Fat Joe Are Doing An Album Together

As seen on HipHopWired:

“Me and Remy just wrapped up a new album,” reveals Joe, who also has film projects in the works. “Just me and Remy. I’m super excited about that. The album is ridiculous. So we’ve been working musically like crazy.”

The first single is called “All The Way Up” featuring Joe, Remy Ma and French Montana. As for the title, he has it, but he couldn’t give it away, despite wanting to.

“I have the title, but we’re trying to see if we can legally use the title,” he explains. “Until I hear back from the lawyers…it’s an ill title, bro. But I gotta see if I can legally use it. I patented it but I’m trying to make sure I can say and use it, but it’s ill.”

The album will be released independently, sooner than later, we hope.

Yesterday (Feb. 2), Remy and Joe shot the video for the single in New Jersey and New York. See photos from the set(s) below and in the gallery.

Wale Squashes Beef With WWE

From TMZ:

Wrestling superfan Wale is back in the fold with the WWE after almost 2 years of feeling “blackballed” … and celebrated backstage at “Monday Night Raw.”

The rapper got to hang out and take pics with Triple H, The Rock and even Vince McMahon during the Miami event this week — a huge shift in his relationship with the WWE.

Wale used to attend pro wrestling events all the time, but in the past he’s told TMZ Sports he’s felt frozen out since he fought with a heckling WWE fan. He says the cold war started to end when he recently got chummy with some WWE higher-ups.

Fast forward to Monday when Wale finally scored backstage access, and now he’s aiming even higher — “I actually want to work there and I don’t know if [Vince and Triple H] heard about good Wale or bad Wale. Or if they even know what a Wale is.”

For the record, a WWE rep says there was never any official ban … but clearly things have changed a lot since 2014.

I dunno…we’d imagine that this is all in the name of reality show dollars; nonetheless, it’s looks like a big win (relationship-wise, fame-wise, financial security-wise, etc.) for Blac Chyna. Pretty sure Tyga isn’t humoured at all, either.

Big Sean Donates $10,000 To Flint Water Crisis

Big-Sean2

From Billboard, where you can read more on the story:

Big Sean has launched a campaign to help the children of Flint, Mich., in response to the city’s water crisis that has lead-contamination threatening the community’s health.

Beyond immediate physical health problems, developmental issues have been linked to lead poisoning in children, so Sean has launched a CrowdRise campaign called #HEALFLINTKIDS to put money towards the Community Foundation of Greater Flint Michigan’s “Flint Child Health & Development Fund.”

“I’m raising money to support the kids of Flint Michigan. Toxic water in Flint has rendered the water undrinkable and put the entire city in a state of emergency. Flint’s children were hit the hardest and some have experienced permanent and potentially devastating health defects from lead poisoning,” states Sean on the fundraising website. “We know the needs of Flint children exposed to lead, particularly those most vulnerable – children ages 0-6 – are ongoing and long-term. You can be assured that your gift will be used for critical interventions today and well into the future.”

The purpose is fairly broad but seemingly very worthwhile. So far, the Detroit-native has donated $10,000 via his Sean Anderson Foundation with nearly another $2,000 in donations coming in as of press time.

YoungDro29-620x370

From TMZ:

Rapper Young Dro is spending the night in jail after cops picked him up for a drug offense in Georgia … TMZ has learned.

Clayton County Sheriff’s Department says deputies arrested Dro around 3:30 PM Thursday and booked him for violating the controlled substance act. Unclear at this point where the Atlanta MC was, or what he was allegedly holding.

We’re told he’ll be in custody at least until Friday morning when he has a bail hearing.

We broke the story … Dro also got arrested last summer for grand theft auto after some trickiness with a strip club employee.

And for what it’s worth — Dro has a show in Hollywood Thursday night — safe to say he won’t be making that.

Metro Is Suspending ALL Service This Weekend

Sit tight folks. Beginning tomorrow afternoon, Metro will be suspending all services — train, bus, any other Metro-run transportation — in lieu of the impending snowstorm. From WMATA, where you can get all of the specifics:

Metro today announced major service changes and suspensions on Metrorail, Metrobus and MetroAccess in advance of a potentially historic blizzard affecting the National Capital Region. The National Weather Service has issued a Blizzard Warning for the Metro service area from Friday afternoon through Sunday morning, and the effects of the storm are expected to impact the region into early next week.

“This is not a storm that anyone should take lightly, and I would urge all residents to plan to get to a safe place before the storm arrives Friday afternoon,” said Metro General Manager/CEO Paul J. Wiedefeld. “The actions we are taking today are all in the interest of our customers’ and employees’ safety, and will help us return to service once the storm passes and the snow is cleared.”

Wiedefeld will activate the agency’s Emergency Command Center (ECC) starting at 4 p.m. Friday, with around the clock coverage during the storm. The ECC will coordinate all Metro response efforts, including protecting rail and bus equipment, responding to weather-related problems, and coordinating the clearing of station platforms, parking lots, garages, bus loops, rail yards and storage facilities.

Ex-D.C. Drug Kingpin Cornell Jones Pleads Guilty To Tax Evasion; Faces 5 Years In Prison

From the Washington Post:

A D.C. drug kingpin who served nine years in federal prison in a drug case and also ran up $16 million in unpaid taxes as of 1986 pleaded guilty to new tax-evasion charges Tuesday in federal court in Washington.

Cornell M. Jones, 58, a one-time high-school dropout who along with the likes of Rayful Edmond III rose to become a prominent player in the city’s rampant 1980s cocaine trade, admitted Tuesday to concealing $1.3 million due U.S. taxpayers by concealing income from businesses he ran after his release from prison.

In court documents, Jones acknowledged failing to disclose $3.5 million in income in 2010 alone, including proceeds from the sale of his D.C. Tunnel nightclub and other real estate transactions on Queens Chapel Road NE, where he also served as executive director of Miracle Hands, a D.C. government-funded nonprofit counseling center for ex-felons.

“Did you deal extensively in cash for purposes of concealing income?” U.S. District Judge Richard J. Leon asked the defendant.

“Yes, Your Honor,” said Jones, who declined to comment after the hearing, as did his attorney, Bernard S. Grimm.

Jones faces a statutory maximum of five years in prison. Leon set sentencing for April 14.

DAMN: Bobby Shmurda Denied Bail For The 7th Time

Spotted on The FADER:

Bobby Shmurda was denied bail today by New York City judge Abraham Clott. Judge Clott told the court that he sees “no substantive change” in Shmurda and is “satisfied that the case is extraordinarily serious.” Shmurda’s attorney Alex Spiro told The FADER that the rapper and his family are “frustrated” and have been raising questions regarding why he isn’t being helped.

Shmurda has now been denied bail seven times since his December 17 2014 arrest on drugs and weapons charges. It was reported before his last appearance in December that his family got together a new bail package, but that was turned down as well. Late last month, controversial pharmaceutical CEO Martin Shkreli told HipHopDX that he planned to bail Shmurda out of jail.

Shmurda’s next court date is tentatively scheduled for February 22 which is when he will go to trial for several charges brought against him after a woman some reported was his girlfriend reportedly tried to sneak him a knife while behind bars. Last week in court, Shmurda’s lawyer raised questions about the involvement of some of the case’s arresting officers.

Boosie Badazz & C-Murder Are Dropping An Album Together

boosie-cmurder

Said to be arriving in April. From AllHipHop:

A week after AllHipHop.com broke the story of Mannie Fresh’s announcement about a joint album with Lil Wayne and Juvenile, there is more news of Louisiana born rap stars teaming up for a project.

TRU-Bossalinie Records artist Vs reveals his label boss C-Murder and Baton Rouge representative Boosie Badazz have worked on music together. In an exclusive interview, Vs discussed the forthcoming Penitentiary Chances album from C-Murder and Boosie.

“In a few months, we’re about to drop this joint with [C-Murder] and Boosie,” Vs tell AllHipHop. “I’m on two joints on there. One of them is called ‘This Ain’t Living’ with just me and Boosie together. The other one is called ‘Strapped Up’ with me, C-Murder, and Boosie.”

He adds, “That’s just them two linking up on an album, doing something they always wanted to do, but never got a chance to do. By them both being incarcerated, they had time to put their heads together and come up with a project.”
