Wal-Mart Drops Plans For 2 D.C. Stores, D.C. Govt. Is Pretty Pissed About It

From NBC Washington:
Wal-Mart has informed D.C. officials that it’s abandoned plans to construct two additional stores in the District — and city leaders are furious.
The news came just hours after the retail giant announced Friday morning that it will close 269 stores worldwide, including 154 in the United States.
Mayor Muriel Bowser said she’s “blood mad” over the dropped plans for stores at Skyland Town Center and Capitol Gateway, both in Northeast D.C. east of the Anacostia River.
Both areas are desperate for retail. Then-Mayor Vincent Gray had gotten Wal-Mart to agree to the Skyland location as a condition for building its other D.C. stores.
Neither location had broken ground, but old stores had already been cleared at the Skyland shopping center.
“We’re dismayed by Walmart’s actions,” said D.C. Attorney General Karl Racine. “The residents of the District of Columbia — and particularly the residents of Wards 7 and 8 — have long expected that Walmart would follow through on its commitment to locate stores at Skyland and Capitol Gateway.”
Racine said his office is reviewing the situation and partnering with Bowser and the D.C. Council “to explore all available options.”
D.C. Council member Vincent Orange said the District should sue Walmart for backing out of the Skyland location.
Wal-Mart has opened three stores in the District in recent years, at 99 H St. NW, 5929 Georgia Ave. NW and in the Fort Totten area.

Scott Storch Is Back On Drugs, According To New Lawsuit

Taken from Hollywood Reporter, where you can read the full story:
The hitmaker is allegedly back on drugs, as two individuals who put up a million dollars post-bankrupcy now claim he is untrustworthy.
Scott Storch, the high-flying music producer who burned through a $70 million fortune thanks to a cocaine addiction, is attempting to make a comeback, but now faces a lawsuit from two individuals who claim to have bankrolled him after he declared bankruptcy.
The lawsuit claims that Storch is backing away from the relationship and that the music producer “is back to his old ways and is not someone to trust with any monies.”
“In fact, B. Cohen and S. Cohen had an agreement with Storch that B. Cohen and S. Cohen would take the Rolls-Royce Ghost away from Storch if he failed a drug test or it was otherwise discovered by B. Cohen and/or S. Cohen that Storch was using drugs,” states the complaint. “In mid-December 2015, B. Cohen and S. Cohen discovered that Storch was again using drugs and demanded return of the vehicle. The vehicle is in S. Cohen name and S. Cohen did not want it to become an insurance liability. Upon information and belief, the demand that Storch return the vehicle partially led to B. Cohen and S. Cohen falling out of grace with Storch.”

DAMN: MC Hammer Owes $800K To The IRS

The definition of not catching a break. Spotted on Bossip:
An appeals court has shut down MC Hammer’s attempt to reverse a decision ordering him to cough up nearly $800,000 to the IRS over unpaid taxes, leaving the rapper on the hook for the massive debt.
The feds sued Hammer, aka Stanley Burrell in 2012, claiming the “You Can’t Touch This” rapper never paid them back taxes for the years 1996 and 1997. The court sided with the feds and awarded them a judgment against Hammer in the amount of $798,033.48.
Hammer then appealed of the judgment, claiming it was unfair he had to pay the amount plus penalties when he ALREADY paid it as part of his bankruptcy.
Then the feds fired back, claiming Hammer doesn’t seem to understand his tax debt situation. The IRS explained that they filed a claim in his bankruptcy for unpaid taxes for the years 1993, 1994 and 1995 totaling $1,517,450.92. They said Hammer’s tax debt for 1996 and 1997 totaling $800,000 was NOT wiped clean and he still owed them. They wanted the appeals court to confirm the lower courts judgment of $798,033.48 against him.

Meek Mill Found Guilty In Probation Violations Case; Could See Prison Time

According to the Associate Press and ABC, the rapper Meek Mill (born Robert Williams) was found guilty by a Philadelphia judge of probation violations, with the potential for a prison sentence. Common Pleas Judge Genece Brinkley, the same judge who spared Meek from prison in 2009 for his gun charge, but had him spend 5 months in jail last year, decided that probation wasn’t “appropriate.” The latest alleged violations occurred because of the rapper’s frequent traveling. Mill’s 209 gun case was what started trouble for the 28-year-old. Even though he avoided jail time, probation violations have sent him back to court consistently since then. Meek’s girlfriend Nicki Minaj was also at the hearing. Reportedly, he will have stricter rules on performing and traveling until his sentencing, in 2016. For more info, read the ABC News report, written by Maryclaire Dale.

Baltimore Cop In Freddie Gray Case Gets A Mistrial
From CNN:
A judge declared a mistrial Wednesday in the case of Baltimore police Officer William Porter after jurors said they were deadlocked.
Porter was one of six officers charged in connection with the death of Freddie Gray, who died after sustaining a neck injury while in police custody. Prosecutors will decide whether to retry the case.
No matter what happens next, legal analysts described the mistrial as a major setback for the prosecution that could effect the cases of the other five officers.
The judge told the prosecution and defense attorneys to appear in administrative court Thursday morning to set a new trial date.
A defense attorney declined to comment, saying he was subject to a court gag order.
Gray’s family thanked jurors for their service and asked the public to remain calm.
