Photographer Cries Assault Over Diddy’s Bodyguards

America. From AJC:
An Atlanta man claims several bodyguards employed by music producer Sean “Diddy” Combs beat him in a lawsuit filed against the entertainer and his record company.
Jabari Tilgham, 30, claims he was beaten while working as a photographer at Club Mansion Elan on Clairmont Road, according to the suit filed Friday in DeKalb County State Court. In addition to Combs, the suit also includes four unnamed bodyguards and the DeKalb club as defendants.
Combs, 41, co-hosted a party in October following the BET Awards, along with rapper Rick Ross. Tilgham was one of about 12 photographers inside the club taking photos of Combs and other celebrity guests at the party, attorney Jeffrey Gewirtz of Jeffrey | Scott LLP told the AJC.
Combs’ personal security singled out Tilgham and started beating on him, Gewirtz said. A security guard employed by the club confirmed Tilgham’s story in a signed affidavit, Gewirtz said.

Did Wiz Khalifa & Kanye West Almost Fight Over Amber Rose?

From The Urban Daily (who got it from Media Takeout….so yea. Rumor):

Last night at the Coachella music festival, Kanye West brought down the stage with a two hour performance dedicated to his mother Donda West. In what people are calling his best performance since his mother died, Kanye is alleged to have taken a shot at Amber Rose who was standing 75 feet away from him. During the song “Stronger” instead of saying “I’ll do anything for a blonde dike and she’ll do anything if the times right” Kanye said “I did anything for that blonde dike and she did anything when the times right.”

(Hit the video above at the 27:00 mark to hear the altered verse)

Mediatakeout.com reports that Wiz Khalifah “confronted” Kanye when he left the stage. According to one of their insiders “Wiz didn’t want to fight, he just wanted all this catty bullsh*t to end.” Kanye sought otherwise though; “Kanye said something to Wiz and next thing you know security and people’s entourages were everywhere pushing and shoving, it could have got real ugly.”

Foto DC Flash ([DC Area] Hip-Hop Photography Exhibit)

This is pretty cool. Unfortunately today was the last day of the exhibition. From Sidney Thomas (the author of Diamonds In The Raw):

While I was doing research for my book, Diamonds In The Raw, I took over 7000 photographs at various venues around the city. I organized some of these photographs into a collection entitled Inner City Rhythms and submitted them to a panel of experts at the Corcoran Gallery of Art. The advisory panel reviewed the portfolios of over 280 photographers and I was among 30 selected to exhibit their work (2 to 6 images each) at the FOTO DC “FLASH” exhibit in Crystal City.

My collection consists of photographs of local hip-hop and go-go artists. The location of the FOTO DC “FLASH” exhibition is 2450 Crystal Drive 12th and 13th Floor Penthouse – Crystal City, VA (Arlington, VA). The exhibit lasts from March 18 – April 18, 2011. They have a bar that serves wine & beer, and on weekend evenings a DJ will perform. There will also be special events held in conjunction with FOTO DC which you can find out about by going to their website (www.fotoweekdc.org).

The Carter IV Pushed Back To June

Was it because of the tracklisting leak? Rap Dose doesn’t think so…
Baring no relation to the rumored tracklist that hit the ‘net earlier, Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV has been pushed back to the month of June, indefinitely. The cause(s) of it being pushed back is uncertain. But as it was previously mentioned, the tracklist floating around is not an agent, for the change of the release date was decided prior to the tracklist being reveal.
Also, the tentative tracklist may not be entirely valid. One of Weezy’s go-to producers shed some light on its authenticity.
“Wayne and I did a few records together, but none of the track names in the tracklist look familiar.”
How long will we be forced to wait for the fourth installment of Weezy’s Tha Carter series? It is unknown, but we can only hope the project will be worth the time we’ve spent anticipating it’s release.

Coolio Still Gets Hammered

You can check out more pictures after the jump. All from TMZ:
Coolio was a drunken, incoherent, vulgar mess at a concert last week in Minneapolis — this according to the owner of the venue … and based on the pictures…dude ain’t lying.
The rapper stopped by a place called The Lounge for their “Hip Hop Thursday” event — where he performed three songs, including “Gangster’s Paradise” … and we’re told, he could barely speak the words.
Lounge owner Bryan Bell tells us, “Coolio was completely hammered … a trainwreck, he was totally vulgar and completely incoherent and I did not want to be there for it” — adding, “This is not what the Lounge does. This is not what we do at our club.”
Calls to Coolio’s people weren’t returned.

G-Unit Might Be Signing Pauly D.

Werd? C’monnnnnnn. From TMZ:
Pauly D is DANGEROUSLY close to joining forces with G-Unit — because TMZ has learned, 50 Cent desperately wants to sign him to his record label … in fact, a 3-album deal is already on the table.

Sources close to negotiations tell TMZ, the “Jersey Shore” DJ met with Fiddy and his people in NYC last week — where they discussed the lucrative record deal … and also tossed around the idea of a Pauly D merchandise line, specifically Pauly D-brand headphones.

Nothing’s signed yet — but according to sources, 50 wants to hammer out the deal ASAP … before Pauly jets off to Italy to shoot “Jersey Shore” Season 4.

We’re told talks have become so serious — 50 and Pauly have even started to kick around ideas for people Pauly can collaborate with. Calls to 50’s people weren’t returned.

Teyana Taylor Might’ve Attacked A Woman Over Chris Brown

Wow. From TMZ:
Teyana Taylor — an R&B singer who was once featured on “My Super Sweet 16” — has been named as a suspect in a ferocious girl-on-girl beatdown … TMZ has learned.
Law enforcement sources tell us … Taylor was hanging out at a recording studio in Burbank Saturday night when another woman made a comment regarding Teyana’s friend Chris Brown.
We’re told Teyana allegedly flipped out — and punched the other woman in the face multiple times … sending the woman crashing to the floor … where Teyana proceeded to kick her in the stomach and head with her boots.
Cops were called to the scene … but Teyana had already left the building.
We’re told the victim sustained several nasty scrapes and swelling around her face.
Police sources tell us they’re investigating the incident — and would like to speak with Taylor ASAP — but so far, no charges have been filed against her.
Attempts to reach Teyana were unsuccessful.
Story developing…

De La Soul Honored By Library Of Congress

From XXL:
De La Soul’s seminal debut album 3 Feet High and Rising has been selected by the Library of Congress as an addition to the 2010 National Recording Registry.
With input from the National Recording Preservation Board (NRPB), Librarian of Congress, James H. Billington, selected 25 works regarded as “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.”
The honor positions 3 Feet High and Rising as part of an elite group of just 325 total recordings selected by the NRPB for preservation, ensuring that “these cultural, artistic and historical recordings always will be available to the American public.”
The Native Tonguers join other hip-hop acts, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Public Enemy and 2Pac in the NRPB. Pac’s “Dear Mama” was inducted into the registry last year, while Flash’s “The Message” was added in 2003 and P.E.’s Fear of a Black Planet LP was honored with the distinction in 2005.
Released in 1989, 3 Feet High and Rising was praised by the NRPB for “bucking hip-hop’s increasing turn toward stark urban naturalism in the late 1980s” with an “upbeat and often humorous album [released] to widespread acclaim in the U.S. and abroad.”
The debut album – which spawned singles including “Me Myself and I” and “The Magic Number” – was also noted for its “astonishing range of samples.” —Lauren Carter
