TV presenter Peaches Geldof, second daughter of musician Bob Geldof and the late Paula Yates, has died aged 25, leaving a husband and two sons.

“We are beyond pain,” said her father, confirming her death. “She was the wildest, funniest, cleverest, wittiest and the most bonkers of all of us.”

Police, who were called to an address in Kent around lunchtime on Monday, say the death is currently being treated as “unexplained and sudden”.

In a statement, Kent Police said: “Police were called at 13:35 on 7 April, 2014 to an address near Wrotham following a report of concern for the welfare of a woman.

“A woman aged 25 was pronounced dead by South East Coast Ambulance Service.

“Officers are working to establish the circumstances around the death.”

Geldof was 11 when her own mother died.

Hollywood Legend Mickey Rooney Dead At 93

Mickey Rooney, a Hollywood actor who appeared in over 200 films in 80 years, passed away today at 93.  More from USA Today:

Mickey Rooney was the original Hardy boy.

His 200-plus film credits notwithstanding, the spry, spirited Rooney will be best remembered for playing the impetuous title character in MGM’s belovedAndy Hardy movies.

Multiple news outlets reported that Rooney, 93, died on Sunday. He is survived by his eighth wife Jan, and nine children.

But most of all, he leaves behind a colorful Hollywood legacy that spanned 80 years and more than 200 films, including Boys Town and The Black Stallion. Rooney won two honorary Oscars, the first in 1938, the second in 1982. In January 2005, Rooney made headlines for the unlikeliest of reasons when the Fox network rejected a Super Bowl cold remedy commercial — featuring Rooney’s bared bottom — for being inappropriate.

Jennifer Lopez Beats Out Diddy In Acquiring FUSE

How did Diddy’s ex gain the upper hand on an entire network? Because she apparently has minority ownership in NuvoTV. From the Hollywood Reporter:

NuvoTV, the English-language cable channel where Jennifer Lopez is a minority owner and serves as the network’s chief creative offer, has reached an agreement to acquire Fuse from Madison Square Garden Company for $226 million.

“Music is my first love so the acquisition of Fuse is near and dear to my heart,” Lopez said in a statement. “It’s exciting that between NUVOtv and Fuse we’ll have the ability to deliver a broad array of terrific content both from a Latino perspective and across multiple genres, including music, to a broader audience. The acquisition of Fuse means we now own two wonderful assets. It’s a phenomenal time for our company and we look forward to growing both networks in the years ahead.”

The deal is expected to close between July 1 and September 1.

“The acquisition of Fuse represents a transformational event for us and also provides significant benefits to NUVOtv,” said Michael Schwimmer, CEO of NUVOtv network parent company SiTV Media. “It enhances our distribution relationships, dramatically expands our aggregate subscriber base, provides substantial economies of scale, affords unique opportunities for programming and cross-promotion and should be extremely appealing to the advertising community as we roll out our plans for both NUVOtv and Fuse.”
Prior to Lopez’s NuvoTV reaching a deal, Sean “Puffy” Combs, backed by billionaire supermarket magnate Ron Burkle, had reportedly made a $200 million offer.

The assumption in the industry that Lopez and Combs, who owns the fledgling Revolt TV cable channel in partnership with Comcast, were interested in acquiring Fuse to convert the struggling network to their respective programming formats and gain access to Fuse’s 74 million cable households. (NuvoTV and Revolt reportedly reach in the neighborhood of 34 million households.)

The seemingly candid photograph Boston Red Sox slugger Ortiz took last Tuesday of himself with President Obama might have been the last ever presidential selfie, a top White House aide said Sunday.

Ortiz took the selfie with Obama Tuesday during the team’s visit to the White House. The pic appeared spontaneous, but then it was revealed Big Papi has a deal with the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 phone to perform public relations stunts like the Obama photo op.

“Maybe this will be the end of all selfies,” White House Senior Adviser Dan Pfeiffer said about the incident Sunday on CBS’ “Face the Nation.” “(Obama) obviously didn’t know anything about Samsung’s connection to this.”

“Someone who uses the President’s likeness to promote a product… that’s a problem with the White House,” Pfeiffer added. “We’ve had conversations with Samsung about this and have expressed our concerns.”

After the stunt, Samsung revealed it had a marketing deal with Ortiz and admitted that company officials had “worked with David and the team on how to share images with fans.”

Ortiz snapped the seemingly unplanned shot while onstage with Obama, as the Red Sox celebrated their 2013 World Series title at the White House.

Ortiz tweeted the picture, prompting more than 38,000 retweets, including one by the official Samsung account — to the company’s more than 5.2 million Twitter followers.

The incident isn’t the first time Obama has found himself in selfie hot water — nor is it the first time Samsung has struck marketing gold with a secretive selfie promo.

Last month, Academy Awards host Ellen DeGeneres used her Samsung Galaxy Note 3, during the telecast, to take and tweet a selfie of a group of A-list actors that quickly became the most re-tweeted post of all time.

And in December, President Obama was roundly criticized for granting a selfie request to Denmark Prime Minister Helle Thorning, who took a pic with Obama, herself and British Prime Minister David Cameron at the memorial service of Nelson Mandela.

PIC: Queen’s Guard Pulls A Gun On Buckingham Palace Visitor

An armed Queen’s Guard raised his rifle at a ranting potential intruder outside Buckingham Palace in a ‘shocking’ drama outside the royal gates.

The tense encounter came after the man, who was seen at the north centre gate of the Queen’s residence, had spent five minutes shouting at royal protection officers.

The guard, dressed in the traditional red uniform and bearskin hat, reportedly strode 50 yards from his post to up the pressure in the confrontation.

Witnesses described how his raised weapon, with an attached bayonet, was levelled at the throat of the man as they exchanged heated words on Friday afternoon.

Tourist Gareth Scanlan, 32, told The Sun how the man’s encounter with police escalated before the armed soldier rushed to the scene.

Mr Scanlan said that when confronted the bayonet, the would-be intruder said ‘Oh you’re a big boy now’ to the soldier – thought to be Scottish – who in turned replied ‘Yes I am a big boy’ before pushing him.

Royal protection officers then ushered the man away, though he was not arrested.

It is unusual for soldiers to leave their post unless a Royal is under threat, as the Metropolitan Police are responsible for most issues related to guarding the palace.

But it is believed that the soldier who intervened has the backing of his superiors.

The Metropolitan police said that they gave the man ‘words of advice’.

A spokesman said: ‘An incident occurred at the north centre gate of Buckingham Palace at approximately 17.50hrs on Friday 4th April.

‘Officers from Royalty protection spoke to a male and he was given words of advice. There were no arrests.’

X Factor winner James Arthur has reportedly been sacked by Simon Cowell’s record company Syco following a new song in which he appears to glamourise terrorism.

After recording just one album for the label, 26-year-old James has now been dropped with the shocking new track apparently the final straw that led to music mogul Simon’s decision, according to reports.

The new song, Follow The Leader, features lyrics in which James raps ‘I’m gonna blow up your family like I’m a terrorist’.

A music source told The Sun on Sunday’s Dan Wootton that it appears that James might be self-destructing.

‘He has done himself no favours with his outbursts,’ the source revealed. ‘It’s as if he’s almost willing Syco to drop him.

‘Simon and Syco have been extremely loyal to Jams throughout his problems but there’s only so much they are prepared to put up with.

‘It feels like the end of the road for him at Syco – James has been his own worst enemy.’

James tweeted that his songs was actually from the point of view of a mad fan and that he wanted everyone to hear it in context, but it appears that he may have just gone a little too far with the terrorist references.

Pulse Signals Detected In Search For Malaysia Flight 370

Along with new signs that searchers could be nearing the missing Malaysia Airlines plane, a fresh mystery surfaced Sunday.

The aircraft deliberately skirted Indonesian airspace as it went off the grid and veered off course, a senior Malaysian government source told CNN.

The new analysis of the flight’s path means the plane may have been taken along a route designed to avoid radar detection, the source said.

But why would someone steer the plane that way, and where is it now?

Those are key questions that investigators are trying to answer — and fast.

The HMS Echo, a British navy ship equipped with advanced detection gear, sailed into the search area Monday morning (Sunday afternoon ET), hoping to home in on the place where a Chinese crew detected two audio signals.

Investigators hope the pulses could be locator beacons from the plane’s data recorders, but they’re not sure yet.

Time could be running out. It might be only a few hours or a few days before the pingers aboard the plane stop transmitting for good.

The batteries inside the beacons, which are designed to start sending signals when a plane crashes into water, last about 30 days after the devices are activated.

That 30th day has come — though experts have said it’s possible that they could last several days longer if they were at their full strength.

Vybz Kartel Sentenced To Life In Prison

A jury found the 38-year-old, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, guilty of the death of an associate in March.

Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams was killed after being asked to Kartel’s home to discuss two missing illegal hand guns.

Vybz Kartel was previously arrested in 2011 on drug charges.

They were later dropped, but an investigation by Jamaica’s Major Investigation Taskforce (MIT) discovered illegal firearms during a search of his house.

Police also charged him with being involved in the deaths of two men from the Portmore district of the island.

One murder case was dropped due to lack of evidence, however the musician and three other men went on trial for the killing of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams.

The trial lasted 65 days and was the longest court case in the history of the Caribbean island, having started last November.

A key piece of evidence was a text message said to be sent from Kartel’s phone.

It claimed Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams had been chopped up into so many pieces his body would never be found.

Radio 1 Presenter Receives Death Threats For Criticising Miley Cyrus

BBC Radio 1 chart show presenter Jameela Jamil has told how she was subject to “terrifying” death and sexual threats on Twitter after she criticised Miley Cyrus.

Jamil said pop stars such as Cyrus, who provoked outrage with her twerking performance opposite Robin Thicke at last year’s MTV video music awards, were contributing to the objectification of women’s bodies.

Jamil, who also makes documentaries for BBC3, criticised the BBC’s decision to close down the TV channel, making it online-only next year, saying young people always “got the short end of the bargain”.

In a discussion about trolling at Ad Week Europe in London on Tuesday, Jamil said: “I have had quite a lot of those death threats, really scary sexual threats, all because I might have touched on Miley Cyrus and her overt use of her sexuality and her vagina to give her more of a platform in the media.

“I debated whether it was the right way to go necessarily for the progression of woman and it was just terrifying, the onslaught that you receive.”

The Game Under Investigation For Allegedly Beating Up Fiancée

The Game is now the suspect in a felony domestic violence investigation … after allegedly beating up his fiancee, law enforcement sources tell TMZ. According to our sources, Game’s fiancee Tiffney Cambridge, filed a police report last weekend … following a March 19th incident during which she claims Game attacked her. Cambridge told police the couple was having an argument and Game turned violent. Sources close to Tiffney tell us, Game hit Tiffney repeatedly in the face, injuring her eye socket and breaking her nose. Law enforcement sources say police took photos of her face.

Reports also claim Game confirmed an incident went down with his estranged lover.

We’re told the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department has launched a criminal investigation. Both Game and Tiffney appear on his reality show, “Marrying The Game.” Sources connected with Game tell TMZ, he acknowledges there was an incident … but the rapper insists he never laid a finger on her.

Earlier this year, Game hinted at a possible deal with children’s network Nickelodeon being in the works.

“3 years with a meeting at Nickelodeon & she killed it. Thanks to @MonaScottYoung for walking it in. I owe you dinner… Wingstop this time on me lol…. & thanks to Shelly at Nick Jr. For the time. #aStarIsBorn #ProudFather,” Game wrote January 29.

Trick Daddy Arrested For Possession Of Cocaine And Firearm

Miami rapper Trick Daddy was arrested in Miramar after deputies found cocaine and a handgun in his home Thursday night, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said.

Trick Daddy, whose real name is Maurice Young, was arrested just after 10 p.m. at his home on Southwest 19th Street, according to an arrest affidavit. He was booked into jail and later bonded out.

According to the affidavit, the Broward County Drug Task Force had a “sniff warrant” to search the home and stopped Young as he was leaving in his car.

Young admitted he had powder cocaine in the home and maybe marijuana roaches but no grow house, the affidavit said.

When deputies searched the home, they found 1g of powder that field tested positive for cocaine, the affidavit said. A 9mm Sig Sauer and a box of ammunition were also found in the home, the affidavit said.

Young admitted to deputies that he is a convicted felon, with arrests for trafficking narcotics, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon and possession of cocaine, the affidavit said.

Chris Brown Extradited To D.C. Con Air Style

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Chris Brown has been taken into custody by U.S. marshals and will be transported to Washington, D.C., for an upcoming misdemeanor assault trial, an official said Thursday.

Brown, 24, was turned over to marshals Wednesday at a Los Angeles jail, marshals’ spokeswoman Laura Vega said. She declined to say when the Grammy winner would be sent to Washington.

The singer and his bodyguard are accused of hitting a man outside a Washington hotel in October.

Brown remains under court supervision in Los Angeles for a felony assault case filed after his 2009 attack on then-girlfriend Rihanna.

He has been held without bail in the city since mid-March, when he was discharged from court-ordered rehab for violating the rules of the facility.

He could not be moved to Washington until federal prosecutors — who handle all serious criminal cases in the nation’s capital — obtained a court order there.

The order authorized the transfer of Brown by federal marshals for the trial set to begin later this month.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge James R. Brandlin ruled Thursday that having Brown go on trial in Washington was the most efficient way to handle his legal troubles,

“It is the most expeditious and convenient method for all parties,” Brandlin wrote in his ruling.

Defense attorney Mark Geragos had been trying to block Brown’s transfer in the custody of marshals, arguing it would deprive him of a chance to properly prepare for the trial.

Brandlin rejected that argument and canceled a hearing scheduled for Thursday on the motion by Geragos, who wrote in an email that the Marshals Service took Brown into custody just hours after the lawyer filed the motion.

Geragos has sought the dismissal of the misdemeanor assault case, and a hearing on that request is scheduled for Monday in Washington.

If convicted in the Washington case, Brown could face additional penalties, including time behind bars, under the terms of a court order in the Rihanna case.

Missing Girl’s Mother & Her Boyfriend Flaunted Cash On Facebook

In the desperate search for 8-year-old Relisha Rudd, police remain interested in getting clear answers from Relisha’s mother and her boyfriend.

In the days after Relisha Rudd was last seen alive, Shamika Young and her boyfriend, Antonio Wheeler, posted pictures to Facebook featuring wads of money, Bruce Leshan reports. The photos included Young and Wheeler holding big rolls of $50 bills, and photos of Air Jordan sneakers bought for Relisha’s three brothers.

All this while the family was living in the homeless shelter.

Police believe Young let Kahlil Tatum take Relisha, and she was last seen alive with him weeks before police say he killed his wife and then himself.

A massive week long search of Kenilworth Park in Northeast Washington failed to find Relisha’s body. A Grand Jury is looking into whether Young may have obstructed justice by misleading police.

WUSA9 has also learned that Amtrak Police are reviewing surveillance video from March 1 forward at Union Station in an attempt to determine if someone put Relisha on a train to a destination still unknown.

The FBI is still offering a $25,000 reward for Relisha’s return. The agency reminds says it sometimes recovers children years later.

According to Slam Online, John Wall (Cowboys fan) and Kevin Durant (Redskins fan) joined Wale, NASCAR star Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and Robert Griffin III in recruiting Desean Jackson to the Redskins.

“I’m gonna put it like this: Wale is a good friend of mine as well,” Jackson said. “He’s a good rapper, he does his thing out here in D.C., puts on for the city. It was a little influenced by Wale. Another influence was my boy Durant. Kevin Durant been calling me, he been calling and saying man you know how I’d go crazy for you to be in D.C. I mean, what better place is there for me to be? I’m happy to be here. I’m glad, man, honestly I can say that.”

This all came after Jackson again described the influence of Robert Griffin III and DeAngelo Hall in recruiting him.

“RGIII came to my house out in Cali before I even made this trip,” Jackson said on ESPN 980. “He was like man c’mon bro, I need you to come make this happen for me. And honestly I can sit here and say him and D Hall did a great job. I might think they’re the owners and the GM here. The way they got love out here was awesome. So it just shows what type of tradition they have here. And Bruce [Allen] did a great job of just hearing them out and listening to them. And it makes me feel at home. So it was a no-brainer for myself.”

Turns out (John) Wall and Jackson had a pre-existing relationships from both keeping homes in Southern California, and Wall put in a word during Jackson’s visit to Washington.

“I knew him. I met him in L.A. and just said, ‘Waddup’ to him,” Wall said. “[Monday] night, we lost that game in Charlotte, and I was mad and upset. And they all had went to Eden to show him a good time, and I wanted to go, but I was mad about the game. So I just told him, enjoy your trip, wish you the best of luck, and I know they’d love to have [you] here. That’s something big. They got another weapon to make their team dangerous.”

“I’m a Cowboys fan, I ain’t going to lie about that,” Wall said. “But I tell people — it’s kind of weird — but when they are not playing each other, I don’t mind cheering for [the Redskins]. Because I go to the games, and I’m cool with RGIII and DeAngelo Hall and those guys. Don’t look like [the Cowboys] trying to get better anytime soon. So, somebody got to do good.”

2 Chainz Charged With Drug Possession

The Feds might be watching now — 2 Chainz has just been charged with felony drug possession 10 MONTHS after his sizzurp arrest … TMZ has learned.

According to official charging docs, the rapper was hit with one charge of codeine possession — the main ingredient in sizzurp — punishable by up to 3 years in prison.

TMZ broke the story … 2 Chainz was busted at LAX last June after TSA officials allegedly found the sizzurp ingredient in one of the rapper’s checked bags.

He’s scheduled to be arraigned next week.
