@OfficialDanso Feat. @Klayz & @CallMeMissAngel – Bring Me Down (Video)

From the unstoppable My-ish camp, (home of projects such as Incisive ft Julian Marley — Winners & Donae’o — Party Hard), comes the South London rapper, Danso, with a gritty determination for the UK Rap game. Offering an edgy style and charismatic flow, Danso wax’s lyrical on ‘Bring Me Down’, a dance and heavy bass-line enthused track, smoothed over by Miss Angel’s angelic hook which compliments the hard hitting Rap verses from Danso and feature artist Klayz.

With a video set on a familiar and cold-hearted London backdrop, the lyrical content comes to life in a real-life account of an unforgiving journey in to music, lightened with the positivity of the inspiring and catchy hook, Danso takes a true Rap role in telling a powerful story in his debut track from his album.

With 9 Universal Records compilations already part of his back catalogue, Danso continues on his journey in music, carving out his niche with self-produced track ‘Bring me Down’.

DOCUMENTARY: Dom Kennedy – Get Home Safely (Video)

With his anticipated album Get Home Safely releasing next week, Dom Kennedy takes Civil TV to his old stomping grounds and personal studio. “Leimert Park just got a lot of the best shit period in the city”, the OPM leader states. “I’m just trying to keep it going.”

Speaking about some of his fondest memories, Dom speaks on how an area riddled with black-owned businesses, large billboards sporting rappers and, more importantly, people who cared. “When people say how do what I do? It’s like how do I not do what I do? All these people surviving, you know what I’m saying, selling what they sell, doing what they do and they happy, shit, for the most part,” Dom states. “You may not have as much as whoever, but you got what you got and it’s yours, what’s better than that?”

But the LA neighborhood didn’t just spawn the Dodgers-loving lyricist’s affinity for music, it whipped up the idea to build the Other People’s Money brand. “All of this came from my notebook and really being on the road. I be on the back of the tour bus and a lot of downtown sometimes. You may have a day off and I would just jot down little things I see and take pictures of stuff,” Dom discloses before shedding light on the Ready To Die tee for this season. While crafting Yellow Album, Dom’s street sensibilities, business-savvy and all-around laid-back demeanor landed him in one of the biggest MC’s home–Rick Ross.

“I’m banging with Rick Ross. If his album comes out, I know it’s going to be hard. Anything that he do, because I’m a fan of what he do. His work ethic is the reason why he is one of the best at what he do today.” Watch the mini-doc of Dom Perignon and his road to Get Home Safely. The LP is available in Best Buy stores next Tuesday (Oct. 15). Pre-order now on iTunes.

ALIFE Sessions: Pusha T (Video)

Bronx-bred, Virgina-raised M.C., Terrence Thornton, aka Pusha T, aka King Push, made his way to the L.E.S. to be a part of the last installment of ALIFE Sessions for the Summer.

This event marked the return for Pusha, as he and his brother Malice performed in the same space back in 2007. Fast forward 6 years, King Push returned to the ALIFE backyard solo, this time representing a new crew, with an even deeper catalog of hits under his belt.

GETLIVE! warmed up the scene, masterfully spinning contemporary classics, while guests enjoyed complimentary Heineken beers. About an hour and half into the event, Pusha made his way through the crowd, proceeded by copious of bass, chanting “G.O.O.D. Music.” Upon hitting the stage, Push shouted “let’s start where it all began,” breaking into the classic street anthem, “Grindin’.” “From ghetto to ghetto, backyard to yard…,” the crowd supported, seemingly knowing every word. Push followed up with tracks such as “Popular Demand,””Numbers on the Board,” “Blocka,” “Sweet Serenade,” and “Millions,” hammering the capacity crowd for over 30 mins. Finally exiting the stage to his latest single “Nostalgia,” Pusha thanked ALIFE for the support over the years.

My Name Is My Name is in stores Oct. 8th.
