President Obama Says Something Nice About Kanye West

It’s almost like he’s throwing the olive branch to Kanye after these back and forth comments we’ve all been hearing (such as the above video for example). From The Guardian:

Following a turbulent few years between the rapper and president, Barack Obama has diplomatically praised Kanye West’s talents, describing his music as “outstanding”.

In a forthcoming interview with People magazine, the president was asked to chose between socialising with the Yeezus rapper and his wife Kim Kardashian or the cast of US TV show Duck Dynasty. Despite choosing neither the duck hunting Robertson family nor the famous couple, Obama was able to allude to the musical merits of the Yeezus rapper.

“The Duck Dynasty family seems like a pretty fun bunch, so I can see how that would be pretty fun,” he said during the interview according to Time, before adding: “Kanye’s music is outstanding, though. I’ve got a lot of his stuff on my iPad. If it was a concert, then I might not mind listening to him.”

Adidas: Kanye West Is Cool, But We’ll Pass On Kim Kardashian

Grand Opening of RYU Restaurant - Inside

From Belfast Telegraph:

Kim Kardashian won’t be joining forces with Adidas, alongside Kanye West’s new line.

The TV star’s fiancé Kanye West apparently suggested the partnership to the sports giant, who allegedly declined.

Kanye, 36, has just signed a big money deal with the brand, and thought it would be a good idea for Kim to bring out a women’s line to run alongside his own designs.

“Kanye suggested the idea but Adidas declined. So he’ll have to make do with just one range in the family.

“He’s thinking of having Kim model his gear when it eventually comes out,” a source told British newspaper The Sun.

Kanye’s collaboration with Adidas comes after his failed partnership with rival sports brand Nike.

Janelle Monae To Perform At NFL Owners Super Bowl Party; Eminem & Kanye West Too Expensive

eminem-mtv-ema-2013-performance

I’m in the right industry, wrong field. From TMZ:

Eminem got an offer he COULD refuse — an offer to sing at the NFL Owners Party during Super Bowl week that did not meet his price — $2 MILLION!

Sources connected to the party tell TMZ … reps from the event were looking for a headline act for the party that followed the dinner, which will be attended by 1,500 lucky folks. When Eminem’s agents laid out the financial terms, we’re told the owners group passed.

We’re also told the owners were interested in Kanye … but his fee was too high as well. As one source put it, “It was $1 million, plus plus plus a lot of other perks.”

In the end, we’re told the group settled on Janelle Monae, who’s going for a very reasonable $150K.

There will be a slew of singers performing at various events in NYC during Super Bowl week. We’re told DJs are the big thing … and the big ones are going for between $750K and $1 million.

Louis Farrakhan Defends Kanye West Following Accusations Of Anti-Semitism

A little while ago, Kanye West made the following comments during an interview with The Breakfast Club:

Man, let me tell you something about George Bush and oil money and Obama and no money. People want to say Obama can’t make these moves or he’s not executing. That’s because he ain’t got those connections… Black people don’t have the same level of connections as Jewish people. Black people don’t have the same connections as oil people.

The Anti-Defamation League accused Kanye West of Anti-Semitism as a result; Louis Farrakhan has since come to his aid (above), feeling that he shouldn’t have to apologize for his comments.

YouTube Co-Founder (And Video Leaker Of Kanye West Proposal) Fights Lawsuit

youtube-hurley

The billionaire who co-founded YouTube is refusing to back down from Kim Kardashian and Kanye West — firing back at the couple after they sued him for posting video of their engagement online.

We broke the story … K&K filed a lawsuit against Chad Hurley, claiming he violated the confidentiality agreement he signed at AT&T Park in San Fran back in October … when he posted the footage on his video-sharing website.

But now, Chad has filed legal docs of his own … claiming NO ONE ever told him he wasn’t allowed to shoot or distribute the footage.

Chad says … after the proposal, someone did approach him with a waiver and told him it was a release so they could use his image in a TV special .. and he signed the doc without reading it.

He also posed for a pic with the signed form, at the request of K&K’s peeps.

But still, Chad says he shouldn’t be legally bound by the waiver because he was misled into signing it and he got no compensation in return for signing away his rights.

Chad is asking the judge to throw out the case — and force Kim and Kanye to pay for his legal fees.

Clearly, Chad can afford it … he’s just trying to send a giant F-you back to the happy couple.

Arsenio Hall Blasts Kanye West For His Use Of The Word ‘Slave’ (Video)

In addition to his dislike of Kanye’s word use, he also responded to Kanye’s “Arsenio” reference during a recent interview on The Breakfast Club. You can catch a couple of quotes below:

“Like usual, Kanye’s premise confuses the facts. So therefore, everything else needs to be thrown out… it was not racism, it was not a plot, I just left my show!”

“I hate the word “slave” used in songs. The fuck outta here. Do you know what that word is? Do you know what that word is all about? Nobody can use “slave” in pop culture. If you’re in the music business, you shouldn’t fuck with that word. Too serious an era. Too serious a problem in America. There is no one that’s free to move around this country that should use the word “slave.” Do you know what it meant to slaves?”

Flying Lotus Drops New Music, Including A Remix To Kanye West’s ‘Black Skinhead’

In addition to the below re-imagining of Kanye West’s Yeezus single (which isn’t all that imaginative, as much as it throws an additional clashing sound or two into the mix), Flying Lotus also revealed a download of ideas+drafts+loops via his Twitter. You can check out the above Tweet or click here to download.

South Park Clowns Kanye West (Again)

UPDATE: You can check out the full episode below. HipHopWired reports:

An animated version of West, rocking a tight jumpsuit (leotard?) and gold chain, spends the episode defending claims that his fiancee is actually a hobbit. Also, Yeezy interrupts the Pope.

We also get a West rap featuring lines like, “It was no dragon so my girl ain’t no hobbit, that was a Quiznos and my girl b*tch went to rob it. “The “Bound 2″ rapper hasn’t rocked that shag type haircut in a long minute, though.

Check out the scenes with Kanye West in the video below, full episode on the flip. Do you think the episode was funny or took things too far? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Kanye West’s surely forthcoming rant about this episode (he referenced the infamous “gay fish” episode during a show in Las Vegas in late October) is going to be epic.

If you recall, this isn’t the first time Kanye West was a target of the animated show.

Kanye West: My Rap Career Is Just As Dangerous As Being A Police Officer

From TMZ:

First Tom Cruise, now Kanye West is comparing his profession to BEING AT WAR … saying just like soldiers and cops, HE PUTS HIS LIFE ON THE LINE when he goes to work.

Yeezus made the statements to Saturday Night Online this weekend, saying rapping is very dangerous work — “This is like being a police officer or something … or like war or something.”

“You’re literally going out to do your job every day knowing that something could happen to you.”

But Kanye says it’s not JUST the physical risks (he says he could slip on the stage) … KW also risks getting his feelings hurt — because people could watch a show and decide they don’t like him.

Yeah, just like a cop or a soldier.

Kanye West Addresses Nelson Mandela Rumor

After the death of Nelson Mandela, Kanye West logged onto his Twitter to address the rumor of him dishonoring the former South African president (in a recent interview, Kanye West said ‘I am Nelson Mandela”).

Respect to Mandela, his family and his legacy. Despite recent media reports, I’ve never said anything to dishonor or trivialize the life or transition of one of the most inspiring leaders. I’d like to address the false stories and noise that have been engineered by the media. At a young age my mother taught me the importance of his work. Mandela sacrificed his life for the betterment of mankind. Thank you, Mandela, for your life’s work and may it serve as a guiding light to illuminate our future.

Kanye West: ‘My Next Album Is Going to Be Eight Songs’

wesr

The above header is taken from an interview that Kanye West’s conducted at Miami’s Art Basel (that Rolling Stone was present for)…..he was also asked about upcoming projects, and this is what was said:

West also offered some brief insight into his next album project during the talk. “I think my next album is going to be eight songs,” West said. “It’s just reducing down the amount of information that you need. People say a design is the point where you can’t take anything else away. [Yeezus] was very, very designed. I took a departure from radio and popular music in order to get this seat here. If I hadn’t made Yeezus, I wouldn’t be sitting here with this cool font at Basel right here.”
