While on L.A.’s Power 106, Cudi announced that he is no longer associated with Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music. His reasoning seemed to be that he simply wanted to focus on himself, his artist King Chip and his label Wicked Awesome Records. As of now, he is still under Universal Republic. You can check out the audio below.I don’t how I feel about this.

Kid Cudi: Born To Die (Complex Interview)

This goes along with the Complex feature:

Scott Mescudi is not your average villain. Here at Complex we’ve been following the rise of the artist who proudly calls himself “the bane of hip-hop” since 2007, and to tell the truth we still haven’t fully figured him out. With this fourth solo cover, plus one group cover as well as a digital cover, Kid Cudi now holds the record for the most ‘Plex cover appearances. There’s something about a guy who doesn’t just play by his own rules—he invents his own game, and finds a way to keep winning. Even when he seems to be down and out, this kid from Cleveland is always creeping on a come up.

Kid Cudi Covers Complex

Kid Cudi lands  back on the cover of Complex for their February/March 2013 issue. The entire feature is available to here. Below is a  few a highlights below. Issue hits newsstands February 4th.

On antidepressants

I took a trip on antidepressant lane for a little bit. After the WZRD song “Dr. Pill” everyone thought I was talking about molly or ecstasy. But I’m talking about prescription meds. I had just gotten a shrink. I was having an emotional breakdown with this breakup. I kept trying different pills for five months. It fucked me up. They weren’t working. It was every side effect on the bottle. I couldn’t fuck.

On not being on Cruel Summer much

I was a little disappointed. But Kanye had a vision for that. Whatever that vision was didn’t include much of me.

On his father’s burial

We didn’t have any money when my dad died. I knew we didn’t have much, but goddamn. I didn’t know it was like that. My mom revealed to me that the casket wasn’t sealed tight. She said my father’s not there, like there’s nothing.

On being labeled a deadbeat dad

That’s what bothered me about that shit that came out [on TMZ about the child custody case]. Why the fuck would I be a deadbeat? I was like, “That’s preposterous.” I didn’t fucking have a dad since I was a kid. I couldn’t wait to have a family and pick up where my dad left off, and be there for my kid.

WZRD – Teleport 2 Me, Jamie (Video) (@ducidni @DotDaGenius)

I have to be honest: when Kid Cudi & Dot Da Genius first created this piece of work, I overlooked it…..if fact, I didn’t even give this project a listen until earlier this week. Yep. Sad. Turns out the project is DOPE, and it only further convinces me when I see the above visual for their pretty dated but still powerful single ‘Teleport 2 Me, Jamie’. Check it out above.
