Lil Wayne & Rick Ross Banned From Radio Station?

Wayne-RossA small radio station in Michigan has decided to remove both Rick Ross and Lil Wayne from their playlists.

Both artists have been controversial in the past few months with lyrics from ranging from drugs to Emmett Till and, most recently, Rick Ross’ lyric that seems to advocate date rape.

WUVSIp 103.7 in Muskegon, Michigan issued the following statement.

“Many would say both rappers have taken their lyrical content too far and offended too many. The family and estate of [Emmett Till] have released a statement of disapproval over Lil Wayne’s disregard and disrespectful lyrics. Though his record label issued a statement of apology, the rapper has yet to do so. In the case of Rick Ross, a petition has been started over his blatant disregard for women and the issue of date rape. The U.S. Department of Justice estimates that over 300,000 women are raped or sexually assaulted per year in the United States alone. That is a disturbing number and should not be taken lightly. His lyrics not only condone the behavior, but he boasts about it in the song. While some feel it’s only entertainment, many feel it sends and encourages the wrong message. Several individuals and organizations have taken a stand and so are we. Effective immediately Muskegon’s WUVSlp 103.7 the Beat has pulled ALL Lil Wayne and Rick Ross music from rotation. We pride ourselves on playing music that is non-degrading and non-violent. While we believe in freedom of speech, creative writing and individualism, we refuse to be part of the problem by spreading messages that could harm or end someone’s life.”

Rick Ross Speaks On Lil’ Wayne Health Issues

Naturally, Rick Ross was able to vibe with VIBE on the matter of health among one of his peers, given that he’s had a couple of seizures himself:

“Yeah…that’s the homie, I had a few words with Birdman and it’s all positive,” he said on Wayne’s status.

Given his own battle with balancing work and life, Ross said it’s about prioritizing. “It’s just all about putting yourself first and we always reiterate that with each other: ‘Get rest,’” he said. “Sometimes, your desire can overwhelm the things you know that are right for you.”

For those who didn’t purchase their copy of I Am Not A Human Being II from Target, below is the bonus track (produced by David Banner) those buyers recieved. In addition, animator Eric Weindel did a really dope rendition of the artwork that was created by DONDA’s Joe Perez, which you can check out above.

UPDATE: Mack Maine Says Lil’ Wayne Is Released From Hospital

UPDATE:

20130318-201038.jpg

Plenty of developments with this story, the first and most important one being that Lil’ Wayne’s health status has finally upgraded. From TMZ:

We broke the story … doctors pumped Wayne’s stomach at least 3 times after the rapper began experiencing severe and violent seizures. He had been in the ICU since Wednesday.

Now, we’re told the 30-year-old has been walking around the hospital floor on his own — accompanied by a team of bodyguards.

We’re told he’s also eating on his own … and could even be discharged from the hospital in the near future.

Birdman has since already refuted TMZ’s claims that the seizures were drug-related. In related news, some tech guy supposedly revealed that Lil’ Wayne’s recovery Tweet couldn’t have come from him, nor anyone in the hospital for that matter. From HipHopDX:

Following reports that Lil Wayne had suffered from multiple seizures late last week, an alleged Tweet made from the rapper led to even more confusion. The Tweet made from the Lil Wayne’s @LilTunechi account read, “I’m good everybody. Thx for the prayers and love,” and left many wondering how the hospitalized rapper was able to log on to social media in his condition.

According to Nibletz.com founder Kyle Sandler, the Tweet made by Lil Wayne was not made from his location at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

“@TMZ FYI @LilTunechi tweet did NOT originate from 34.0766385, -118.37954589999998 (the lat/long for Cedars Sinai),” said Sandler from his @startuptechguy account, which boasts close to 100,000 followers.

If Lil Wayne’s Tweet did not originate from the location Sandler listed, it’s likely that a rep for the rapper or someone else may have instead posted to the rapper’s Twitter account.

The Young Money artist was hospitalized on Thursday, March 14th and little about the rapper’s condition has been revealed since.

TMZ Vs. Lil’ Wayne & Co. (Day 6)

lilwayneSo, we have a bit of a line drawn in the sand: on one end, you have Lil’ Wayne’s closest family and friends telling the public that he’s fine (not to forget a Tweet from Lil’ Wayne’s Twitter account)…on the other end, the current smoking gun of the story TMZ. Obviously, we don’t really know what true, but you can’t deny the information that’s been reported from Harvey Levin’s website, either. And six days later, he’s still in the hospital:

Lil Wayne is still in rough shape … and remains in the intensive care unit at an L.A. hospital 6 days after being admitted for seizures stemming from a suspected drug overdose … TMZ has learned.

Sources tell us … Wayne’s condition has not improved enough to be moved out of the ICU … and he continues to be monitored very closely by staff at L.A.’s Cedars-Sinai hospital.

We know Wayne has been surrounded by friends and family since he was admitted to the ICU this past Wednesday … and we’re told the mood around Wayne’s bedside has been very serious.

Among Wayne’s visitors — Drake, Chris Paul, Nicki Minaj, Birdman and others.

TMZ broke the story … Wayne’s stomach was pumped at least 3 times after doctors suspected he had overdosed on the prescription drug codeine … the main ingredient in “sizzurp.”

Wayne has struggled with codeine for years — and just a few months ago suggested he had quit using the powerful painkiller.

T.I. Rants On Twitter About TMZ’s Reporting Of Lil’ Wayne

TILilWayne

Wayne and his supporters are claiming that TMZ falsely reported Wayne being in a coma last night (they have been standing by their story for the most part)….one of those suppoters — T.I. — logged onto his twitter and let everyone know how he felt about it. Check out Tip’s tweets below.

Update On Lil’ Wayne Health Status After Suffering From Recent Seizures

0315-lil-wayne-cedars-tmz-3

UPDATE #2: Pictures are out there, but visitors to the hospital to see Wayne have recently included Drake and Chris Paul.

UPDATE: So TMZ has apparently rubbed a lot of folks the wrong way over Lil’ Wayne’s recent health scares — they recently reported that Wayne was in such bad condition that he was being given last rites, which everybody is refuting (including Weezy himself)…

…also in the news story: they (TMZ) say that his recent seizures are probably a result of his recent relapse into codeine use. It was also reported that they had to pump Wayne’s stomach in order to get the drugs out of his system. While TMZ has removed the part about the last rites, they’re standing pretty firm on everything else (they also insinuate that he’s still be stabilized and he probably wasn’t the one to send off that above tweet). We’ll post more updates as they arrive.

According to TMZ, Lil’ Wayne is in ICU in critical condition after suffering yet another seizure, and they say it doesn’t look good. Let’s all pray.

Lil Wayne Rushed To Hospital?

wayne21Reports 4umf:

We just got word that Lil Wayne has been rushed to the hospital. Our source says the Young Money general has suffered from yet another seizure. Although few details have emerged, his condition has said to be serious.

If you remember Lil Wayne was taking seizure medication following his mid-air medical emergency last year — when he suffered seizure-like episodes on two back-to-back flights.

Lil’ Wayne Postpones European Tour

20130305-LILWAYNEEURO

Weezy was headed overseas with Mac Miller & 2 Chainz but apparently changes his mind, in only temporarily:

I am rescheduling my European tour in order to release my album, I Am Not A Human Being II, world wide on March 26th. I didn’t want my tour or album to be rushed, so despite my best hopes, I have made the decision to push back the tour to October 2013. I cannot thank my European fans enough for their patience and look forward to performing in the fall with Mac Miller. I never do anything halfway, and I promise to bring what will be an incredible live show experience.
