‘Freeway’ Ricky Ross Speaks On Rick Ross Shooting

In what really sounds like nothing more than pure promo, the legendary ‘Freeway’ Ricky Ross spoke on the recent happenings regarding the rapper using his namesake:

“I’m not surprised that it happened given recent ongoings, when someone doesn’t understand the street rules they get confused and incidents like this can take place,” he said. “I’m still dealing with ongoing litigation about something as basic as using my name and identity, that should have been dealt with properly a long time ago. No ill will is wished upon anyone, but when you tell these stories about the streets you have to be careful. We covered it in more depth in the Power of the Name Rick Ross piece.”

From MTV:

Monday was supposed to be a day of celebration, not only was it Rozay’s 37th birthday, Push also dropped his Wrath of Caine mixtape the same day. For the tape the two collaborated on “Millions” a boastful affair where the two MCs rhyme of the spoils of their hard work. The day however was marred by the unsettling news and Push immediately reached out to not only Ross but their mutual friend — a mixing engineer which they both work with.

“He was just like, ‘Yeah he’s just layin’ back.’ That was enough for me,” Pusha said of the word he got back concerning Ross’ psyche after the shooting.

According to a nearby couple, rapid gunfire went off and sounded louder than just a regular handgun.

“It was rapid fire, 9 or 10 shots, rapid fire, rapid succession,” said George Maznicki, “it was loud enough, not a hand gun, it was a rifle.” “I jumped out of bed and ran out and George was in the kitchen and I said did you hear that and he said ‘Yeah, that sounded like a machine gun or something’,” said Carol Touchstone. (CBS Local)

Another key witness confirmed Ross and his passenger were chased, which likely led to the crash.

Beth Balk, who lives in apartment that car ran into, heard it slam through the fence. “Apparently someone was chasing them,” said Balk. “It was like a giant kaboom. It rocked me off the bed and I went to the front door.” “In the life of hip hop you never know,” said 99 JAMZ DJ Lorenzo “Ice Tea” Thomas. “There’s violence every day, so you never know what happens. We’ll just have to wait and see as the details develop.” (CBS Local)

This record is okay….I don’t know if he knows or not, but Juelz has to really come correct if he wants to finally be able to pull his rap career out of the slump. We did get one funny line out of it, though:

Far as that dough goes I’m Russell Simmons, you JoJo

Rick Ross (@RickyRozay) To Star In Starz’ Original Series Magic City

video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsvideo player

I’ve never heard of this show, but apparently it’s good enough to be renewed for a second season. Being a series based on Miami, it’s only right that Ricky Rozay gets to have his acting debut on this show. You can check out the backstory below and the preview above.

Miami Beach, 1959.

As Ike Evans rings in the New Year at his luxurious Miramar Playa Hotel, Havana falls to Castro’s rebels. It’s a turbulent time in Miami, but it’s THE place to be. The Kennedys, the mob and the CIA all hold court here. And Ike, he’s the star of his hotel.

But everything comes at a price.

To finance his dream, he sold his soul to mob boss Ben “The Butcher” Diamond. Ike’s wife Vera, a former showgirl, and his three kids think he’s an honorable man, but he can’t break his pact with the devil. His life is a façade.

In fact, nothing at the Miramar Playa is what it seems. By day, it’s diving clowns and cha-cha lessons. By night, escorts have secret liaisons with husbands in the family cabanas, while Miami’s seedier residents and the law drift together to hear legendary singers, musicians and comics.

As Ike’s world threatens to implode, he fights for his family, and the Miramar Playa, in Magic City.
