Wale makes his move to Los Angeles official with a new mixtape.
Wale – Back To The Sun
Wale teases a new track from the upcoming, LA-themed Summer on Sunset Mixtape, due to drop today. “Back To The Sun” was produced by Kal Banx & DJ Money. Wale and Jerry Seinfeld promoted the project (and Wale’s upcoming album) on Instagram. Check that out below.
Wale Feat. Phil Ade – Reminisce
Probably one of the hardest releases from Ralph Folarin this year. Check out Wale’s ‘Reminisce’, which features Phil Ade.
Wale Drops ‘Her Wave’, Links With Rick Ross & Meek Mill For ‘Make It Work’
Wale is pretty much on fire this week — following the release of ‘My PYT’, the D.C. emcee releases both a new track titled ‘Her Wave’ and reunites with Meek Mill and Rick Ross for the hard-hitting ‘Make It Work’. Check out both below.
Wale – The God Smile (Video)
Wale heads to Nigeria for the video for “The God Smile” from The Album About Nothing.
Bonus: Check out his SXSW Freestyle “Black Hoody” for Audiomack.
Wale Squashes Beef With WWE
From TMZ:
Wrestling superfan Wale is back in the fold with the WWE after almost 2 years of feeling “blackballed” … and celebrated backstage at “Monday Night Raw.”
The rapper got to hang out and take pics with Triple H, The Rock and even Vince McMahon during the Miami event this week — a huge shift in his relationship with the WWE.
Wale used to attend pro wrestling events all the time, but in the past he’s told TMZ Sports he’s felt frozen out since he fought with a heckling WWE fan. He says the cold war started to end when he recently got chummy with some WWE higher-ups.
Fast forward to Monday when Wale finally scored backstage access, and now he’s aiming even higher — “I actually want to work there and I don’t know if [Vince and Triple H] heard about good Wale or bad Wale. Or if they even know what a Wale is.”
For the record, a WWE rep says there was never any official ban … but clearly things have changed a lot since 2014.
CHECK OUT: Wale x Akomplice Video Lookbook
Last month, we got to check out Wale and Akomplice’s collaboration in the form of a ski suit; today, we get to see the above visual, which functions as a lookbook and sees the D.C. emcee and clothing outlet speaking on how the collab took place. We really need to get a few of those blends ASAP.
Smoke DZA & Wale – Absolutely Perfect
More dope wrestling rap produced by 183rd. Courtesy of STASHED:
Only a few weeks after Wale dropped off the Sasha Banks tribute, “Legit Boss,” he’s back with another Hip-Hop wrestling mark in Smoke DZA for their latest. It’s called “Absolutely Perfect,” and this track pays tribute to one of the greatest WWF Intercontinental Champions of all time in Curt “Mr. Perfect” Hennig.
Wale – Powerball Freestyle
Produced by Street Symphony & D.O. Speaks. What would you do with a billion dollars?
WOW: Wale Opens The State Of The Union (And Becomes The First Rapper To Do So)
Wale is winning — not only for himself, but for a city that wouldn’t have come this far in Hip-Hop without him (if you disagree, be real with yourself). Yesterday, before President Obama took to the Capitol “stage” to address the country, the D.C. artist opened at the White House — and became the first rapper to do this, which is absolutely remarkable.
Check out the full pre-show below (Wale comes in a little after 45 minutes). Extra shout out to fellow Aggie Terrence J as well.
Hit-Boy – Yadda Yadda ft. Wale
:
Frequent collaborators Hit-Boy and Wale are tired of the chit-chat on their latest song, produced by Hit-Boy himself of course. For more information, check below.
Playbook’s newest client, Grammy Award Winning Rapper/Producer Hit-Boy teams up with Wale for their new joint “Yadda Yadda.” Talk is cheap as the HS87 frontman and Mr. Folarin urge less talk, more action. The track, produced by Hit is book end by a catchy hook from Wale on his latest, pointing to the gossipers and fakes, over a soulful, breezy guitar loop.
CHECK OUT: Wale’s New Intro For ESPN’s First Take (Video)
I must say I'm pleased @Wale, @produceramadeus & the crew. https://t.co/XLLowiCzBK
— Stephen A Smith (@stephenasmith) January 7, 2016
This is dope: Wale and producer Amadeus have come together for the track ‘Every Word Great’, which serves as the new intro for the ESPN show First Take. D.C. continues to win.
Wale Teams Up With Akomplice For Special Edition Ski Suit
D.C. folks will probably appreciate this more than anything: Wale has teamed up with Akomplice to create a dope ski suit, which comes with the D.C. flag and Yoruba patterns emblazoned onto the mostly blue and black colorway. There’s also a ski mask to complete the look.
Check out pics of the fit below; you can make your purchase here (baller alert: it’s $600).
Wale – Legit Boss (Freestyle)
Wale continues to show wrestling love with his latest release (the track remixes Sasha Banks’ entrance music).
Wale – MVP (Bryce Harper) [Prod. by Cheeze Beatz]
Wale drops a new ode to the Nationals’ baseball star. Apparently, local artists the Fatboiz (specifically, Darren Hanible) had a song with the same title and a similar flow, and they took to Twitter to call Wale out on the matter (Wale even responded, yet deleted his tweets not long after). Hopefully, we’ll figure out more on that soon; in the meantime, you can enjoy Wale’s track below (produced by Cheeze Beatz).
Chaz French Feat. Wale – No Shade
D.C.’s Chaz French and Wale come together on the new track ‘No Shade’, produced by Super Miles. These Things Take Time drops December 11th.
Tank Feat. Wale – You Don’t Know (Video)
Tank reveals a new visual for his collaboration with Wale titled ‘You Don’t Know’; the track is said to be taken from his upcoming album Sex, Love & Pain 2 (out January 22nd).
Rosa Acosta Speaks On Issues With Wale In New Interview (Video)
Rosa Acosta is or was recently in London, and made a visit to Not For The Radio for a sit-down interview. As we wait for the full release, NTFR decided to release a snippet which sees the model speaking on Wale (if you recall, they had issues in the past).
CHECK OUT: Wale x VILLA x Timbaland “The Gift Box”
This is dope: D.C.’s own Wale has collaborated with Philly-based VILLA to create a bright, pool blue edition of Timbaland’s 6-inch boot. Titled ‘The Gift Box’, the creation is in lieu of the upcoming holiday season.
Check out pics below; “The Gift Box” will be dropping November 24th via VILLA’s website. They’ll be available in mens ($200), grade-school ($130) and toddler ($85).
Wale Speaks On Meek Mill & Drake; Meek Mill Responds Exactly How You’d Expect
Frequent guest Wale recently stopped by The Breakfast Club to speak on success, drug addiction amongst celebrities, Maybach Music Group, homosexuality in Hip-Hop, Drake and more.
He also premiered some new music, which you can check out here. UPDATE: Elliott Wilson and B. Dot of Rap Radar also interviewed Wale recently; you can check that out here.
UPDATE: Uh oh. Meek Mill has responded…
Wale has even responded back (below)…looks like MMG is pretty much done (let’s be honest, here).
Wale Drops ‘Illuminate’ (Feat. Phil Adé), ‘Know Me’ (Feat. Skeme) & More
UPDATE: So, more music has been dropped by the D.C. rapper today; below, you’ll find four songs (and a video for one of them) total.
During his interview on The Breakfast Club this morning, Wale allowed DJ Envy to premiere a couple of new tracks: ‘Illuminate’ (which features Maryland artist and JUKEBOX:DC favorite Phil Adé) and ‘New Phone’.
You can check out both below; we’ll throw up the Wale interview in the following post.
Shy Glizzy, Wale, Fat Trel, Garvey, Lightshow, Boobe & Lil Tay talk Uniting DC
Tonight, Shy Glizzy took to Twitter to ask most of the biggest names in D.C. Rap about uniting and try to end disputes in the city. Aside from a reported spike in violence this year, a number of past disputes have caused problems between a number of these men, some less public than others. Here’s hoping they can put all of that behind them and that D.C. can start empowering itself.
