The PAID DUES INDEPENDENT HIP HOP FESTIVAL — presented by Murs 3:16
(Living Legends) and Guerilla Union (Rock the Bells Festival, Cypress Hill SmokeOut Festival) — returns to the NOS Event Center in San Bernardino, CA on March 30, 2013 for its eighth annual installment. Murs made the announcement over a live stream on Hard Knock TV’s YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/hardknocktv) as their first combined effort to blend Hard Knock’s strong digital audience with the festivals’ loyal fan-base. The stream was also featured on the Paid Dues Festival website (www.paidduesfestival.com).The all-day, all-ages, multi-stage event highlights the most renowned and emerging independent artists in Hip Hop. The upcoming festival will feature BLACK HIPPY (Kendrick Lamar + Schoolboy Q + Ab-Soul + Jay Rock), MACKLEMORE & RYAN LEWIS, DOM KENNEDY, TECH N9NE, DE LA SOUL, IMMORTAL TECHNIQUE, HOPSIN, JOEY BADASS, and GROUCH & ELIGH. More artists will be announced shortly.
Chang Weisberg, Guerilla Union founder and CEO, adds: “Paid Dues Festival is truly a unique platform. It allows artists to elevate their talents and presence. Dom Kennedy, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Black Hippy — only a few years ago, these artists were opening acts here. Now, they are full-fledge, and well deserving, headliners. Not only that: Paid Dues embraces all types of Hip Hop — old school, new school, underground, mainstream — the common denominator here is that they all embody the independent spirit, struggle and successes. This year’s lineup is so diverse, yet completely cohesive. There is no other place where you can get Black Hippy, De La Soul, Immortal Technique, and Joey Badass all in one day.”
For the third year in a row, the festival will be teaming up with Hollywood for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles in the PAID DUES HABITAT FOR HUMANITY PROJECT. Fans will have the opportunity to work alongside Murs, Paid Dues artists, Guerilla Union staff, and like-minded volunteers to build sustainable housing for a family in need. Volunteer space is “first come, first serve” and is limited, but fans are able to support the cause by donating a monetary, 100% tax-deductible contribution. More information will be announced shortly on the festival’s official website.
Tickets for the exclusive Guerilla Union pre-sale are available from Thursday, December 20 at 10:00am PST until Friday, December 21 at 10:00pm PST. Tickets go on-sale to the general public on Saturday, December 22 at 10:00am PST. Fans are encouraged to sign up to the Guerilla Union mailing list and to stay connected to the Guerilla Union and Paid Dues social media networks for regular announcements, updates, and contests.
