bigz

Larger-than-life rapper Bigz is back with a new name and sound, re-emerging as Mr. Bigz with mixtape ‘My Funked Up Soul‘.

This year has seen the artist undergo a transformation in body and sound, and while the former – a remarkable 9 stone weight loss – has been documented on his popular Instagram account, preview track ‘Back 4 More‘ is our first glimpse of Mr. Bigz‘ new musical direction, with the full mixtape – produced by @TurkishDcypha – released as a free download in December.

Mr. Bigz will have the ladies swooning when they hear the creative results of ‘My Funked Up Soul‘, with the rapper shining as a suave showman to float over some classic Soul samples of yesteryear. From Bobby Caldwell‘s ‘What You Won’t Do For Love‘ to ‘All Night Long‘ by the Mary Jane Girls, the interpolations guarantee a nostalgic vibe throughout, while the bars remain as sharp as ever to ensure that existing fans will too enjoy his progression.

The popularity of Mr. Bigz among the British hip-hop scene is undeniable, collaborating with a number of UK rap’s A-list in Wretch 32, Professor Green, Tinie Tempah and Sway among many others as his previous incarnation, but now in his new guise Mr. Bigz is ready to take his music to the next level. It is rare for an artist to broaden their appeal without compromise, but here is a man who successfully won over fans of Conor Maynard, N-Dubz and Professor Green while supporting each mainstream act on tour, and in August featured on the debut EP of X Factor alumni District3, which reached the Album Chart Top 10. The world is ready for Mr. Bigz!

‘My Funked Up Soul‘ retains the same lyricism and charisma that made us fall in love with the artist to begin with, but now with a backdrop that will draw listeners from all corners along for the ride. Check out the first glimpse of the project now, with lead track ‘Back 4 More‘ available to stream.
