DC hip hop artist Muggsy Malone drops a new joint coming off of his upcoming mixtape “The Consistency” called ‘Before I Lay In A Box’ and layed over production by Grussle fof ILR (InnerLoop Records) out of the DMV.
Song Overview: “When I wrote this one all i had on my mind at that point in time was looking at the neighborhood where my cousin / mother lives along with my two little cousins and thinking ‘I got to get her out of here. Even though she’s seen gunshots , drugs and all that she still had a nice place to lay her head and she’s not used to this’ as i explain in what became the third verse of the song. I speak on how we as people in the urban community , not just black always seen to bow down to material gains before the morality of the situation can enter. Yeah we’re all guilty of it in some aspect. I as well elaborate on how a lot of the things I’ve been through seem to fuel my passion for music, the quest for success we all as men , women and / or parents strive to acheive and the roadblocks that continue to stand in our way to get there while putting God first. I figure like my father told me. As long as you’re trying your hardest to leave the world in a better posistion than when you came you’re doing the right thing. And I think that i’m doing a pretty good job.”

For the first time, The Throne earned their first Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 with their Watch The Throne album. “Niggas In Paris†jumped from #15 to #8 this week giving Jay his 18th top 10 single.
With this honor, Jay has now passed both Lil Wayne and Ludacris (each at 17) with the most Top 10s held by a Hip-Hop artist. The shit cray. Ain’t it Jay?

Peace. This is KRS-One! I’d like to personally thank everyone for their show of support toward the release of the “Just Like That” video. I’m not really a big Internet guy myself, but I had to respond to the enormous amount of love we’ve experienced since the release of the “Just Like That” video. MAD LION ROCKED IT! However, the best is still yet to come.
As you may know, I often use my talents to edutain my listeners and inspire the international Hip Hop community. 2012 will be no different. I feel sorry for those who already think that I preach too much in rhyme, or that I need to retire. On the contrary, I’m just getting started.
Turning the flame up a little more, my next video presentation “Aztecnical” will deal with the myths of 2012, particularly the December 21st 2012 Mayan Calendar “end date”. Too many of our people are being led astray by movies, lectures and hype mostly regarding the celestial calculations of the Mayan Calendar. And while other cultures also predict the same “end date” calculations, it is important to point out that all cosmic alignments, shifts and even changes are occurring RIGHT NOW! The question is, how might this affect Hip Hop worldwide? I believe we are about to finally have our “say” in the world. The key word in the next few upcoming months will be “courage”, and true courage comes from living rightly. As an international culture, Hip Hop is poised for a great opportunity; my goal is to get us prepared for it, and fear has no place in our collective future.
I am sending this “Aztecnical” video out in hopes that it sparks discussion and dispels fears. The first verse deals with the actual Mayan calculations themselves and shows how governments and corporate entities of all sorts use the fears of the public to their own economic and global advantages. The second verse deals with the conquest of Cortez over the Mayan People and how it was the Mayans’ own cultural beliefs that were used against them to cease their lands and resources. The point being, do not allow hype and your own view of the world to lure you into the hands of those only out to exploit you. BE STRONG! BE COURAGOUS! And yes, Knowledge Reigns Supreme. There It Is,Just Like That.

Chuck Brown Concert Coming to Cardozo High School
Join us for Cardozo High School’s “Last Curtain Call,†a Concert with DC’s Chuck Brown and Cardozo‘s home grown original Marvin Gaye’s group that started on Cardozo’s stage in the 60’s, The Marquees. The concert will be in the Historical Cardozo Auditorium on December 9, 2011 from 8:00 until 11:00 p.m. to commemorate the modernization and closing of the 95 year old Historical School on the Hill until it opens again on August, 2013. Join us for our last event on the stage where Marvin Gaye started it all and Chuck Brown continues to keep it moving—a night of Rhythm and Blues and GOGO fun.
