R. Kelly Gets 30 Years For Sex Trafficking

From the NY Daily News, where you can read the full story:

R&B singer R. Kelly was lambasted Wednesday as a “disgusting” child abuser who taught victims that “love is enslavement and violence” before being sentenced to 30 years in prison for a sex abuse scheme targeting his young fans.

The decades-long sentence in Brooklyn Federal Court capped the precipitous downfall of the “I Believe I Can Fly” singer, a self-described “musical genius” who sold more than 75 million records and won three Grammy awards. Kelly, 55, is now a convicted sex offender who claims he’s broke.

Judge Ann Donnelly told Kelly he mercilessly ruined the lives of the countless victims he serially raped, abused, and isolated “with regularity for almost 25 years.”

“This case is not about sex. It’s about violence and cruelty and control,” Donnelly told Kelly.

“These victims were disposable to you. You taught them that love is enslavement and violence and humiliation.”

Chaka Zulu Shot In Atlanta

From TMZ:

Ludacris’ longtime manager Chaka Zulu is one of 3 victims shot outside an Atlanta restaurant, and now we have audio from the horrific scene … where some calm, quick thinking saved lives.

In 911 audio from Sunday’s shooting, obtained by TMZ, a man who describes himself as Restaurant 4B’s head of security can be heard calmly describing the extent of Chaka’s injuries … even as he applied pressure to Chaka’s wounds to stop the bleeding.

His calmness is in stark contrast to the noise in the background, which was absolute pandemonium.

The caller says Chaka was shot in the upper torso and, at one point, he can be heard raising his voice in an effort to keep Chaka conscious until medics can arrive.

He may very well have saved Chaka’s life. The musician’s family released a statement on Monday saying Chaka had successful surgery and is now in stable condition.

Unfortunately, one other victim was not so lucky. According to Fox 5 Atlanta, 23-year-old Artez Benton was killed in the shooting, and his family is searching for answers … as are investigators.
