50 Cent Manages To Avoid Jail In Domestic Violence Case; Gets Three Years Probation

people-50-cent

From the New York Daily News:

50 Cent took the rap but won’t go to jail after a nuclear fight with his California baby mama.

The Queens-bred rapper pleaded no contest Monday to a single count of misdemeanor vandalism of his ex-girlfriend’s Los Angeles residence in exchange for dismissal of his sole domestic violence charge.

“We’re glad that the domestic charge was dismissed, and he took this agreement just to put the whole matter behind him and get on with his life,” his lawyer Scott Leemon told the Daily News.

Leemon entered the plea in a Van Nuys, Calif., courtroom on his client’s behalf and said the vandalism count “deals with the door of the apartment that was damaged and owned by the landlord.”

50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, was sentenced to three years unsupervised probation, mandatory counseling and a month of community service.

The Los Angeles City Attorney’s office originally filed the case saying the “Get Rich or Die Tryin’” rapper went berserk inside model Daphne Joy’s Toluca Lake condo June 23, destroying more than $7,000 worth of property.

Joy, the mother of Jackson’s 1-year-old son Sire, claimed she locked herself in a bedroom to escape the meltdown, and that’s when Jackson allegedly busted down the door and kicked her, causing injury.

Officers rushed to the scene and found a smashed chandelier, a broken TV, a ransacked bedroom closet and Joy’s clothes thrown all over the floor, cops said.

If convicted of domestic violence and the four original vandalism counts, Jackson could have received five years in jail and up to $46,000 in fines.

A judge previously told Jackson, 38, he had to stay at least 100 yards away from Joy and either turn in all of his firearms to law enforcement or sell them to licensed gun dealers.

In 2008, Jackson’s ex-girlfriend Shaniqua Tompkins claimed the rapper was behind a fire that destroyed her Long Island home.

The “P.I.M.P.” singer was cleared of suspicion.

Chris Brown Free From Jail, Gets Charge Reduced To Misdemeanor (Video)

We’re late, because TMZ has since updated this post with a report of conflicting statements regarding the assault, all of which certainly had to have helped his case (the original report is below):

TMZ has just obtained witness statements, some of which conflict. Chris DENIES punching the victim. According to Chris’ statement, he claims he was on his tour bus when the victim tried getting on and his bodyguard “handled it.”

The victim says he was trying to get a pic with Chris and Brown allegedly said, “I ain’t down wit that gay s**t.” The victim told cops he responded by saying, “Why you hoing?” Chris then said, “I feel like boxing.” The victim says Chris then threw the punch and the victim says he then squared off with Chris and then the bodyguard also hit the victim in the face.

According to the victim, after the bodyguard punched him, Chris got BEHIND the bodyguard and screamed, “Yeah, walk away.”

The police say the victim was treated for a fractured nasal bone.

From TMZ:

Chris Brown just got cut a big break … the assault charge has just been reduced from a FELONY to a MISDEMEANOR … and Chris pled not guilty. Chris has just been released without bail. He’s also required to stay 100 yards away from the victim.

Chris had been ordered to take a drug test, but the judge just vacated that order. It’s standard in such cases to order a drug test, but that has been cancelled.

The bodyguard’s charge was also reduced to a misdemeanor.

TMZ broke the story … Brown was arrested for felony assault early Sunday morning in Washington D.C. after allegedly attacking a man outside a hotel and breaking his nose.

Brown allegedly got into an argument with a man, said “I’m not down with that gay s**t, I’m into boxing,” and then punched him in the nose.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ … the fight started when the man and his friend photobombed Chris, who was posing for a picture with two girls.

Sources close to Chris insist the fight wasn’t over a photo — they say the alleged victim tried to force his way onto Chris’ tour bus, and Chris was merely trying to stop a trespass.

Brown has been in custody since the incident.

Video: “Falling Star” – Samuel [Falling Star]

Yo I swear I be finding some next level R&B music. …Because here goes another gem I dug up. The [Falling Star] EP, by newcomer Samuel. …Completely experimental, but completely dope.

artworks-000060750183-3s2870-t500x500Tracks 1 and 3 are the favs. Then 4 and 1. (In that order)… …But the whole 4 song EP is pretty dope forreal…

The video for “Falling Star” is nothing but love to me fyi. That joint is so simple, yet so cool. …And the way Samuel throws this Bob Marley-like r&b delivery over that ultra smooth track, makes this song damn near perfect!

Video: “Talk In Technicolour” – Convaire

Yo. For whatever reason. Australia has been doing it for me band-wise.  Between Tame Impala…, Snakadatal… , Elizabeth Rose…, The Holidays…, The Money Go Round, and RÜFÜS (just to name a few).  Australia has been killin it on many levels.

convaire_340Convaire, a Sydney four-piece that claims to have mastered the art of indie electro-pop… Bending it slightly with disco influences. …Seems to be another addition to that list of Australian impressives.

Now although Convaire has a little more selling to do before I believe their “mastered of the art” claim, the song and video for their recent, “Talk In Technicolour,” was pretty dope.

Just wait for the bassline the chorus to hit.  You’ll be jammin’. Check it out. It’s good music. Posted below. Enjoy…

Video: “Shine” – Audio Push [Come As You Are]

I was super skeptical of this at first. But I honestly had to applaud Audio Push for this video. Reenacting and incorporating Friday (the movie) into this song was a good move. Well done and visually captivating. Sidenote… I just realized I watched this before a long time ago. Meant to post, and completely forgot. Haha.. It came out back in August. lol smh Anyways, Enjoy…

Lebron James x Mike Will Nike Ad

To celebrate his 11th year in the league, Nike’s LeBron’s new ad, ‘Training Day’, features a preview of Mike Will Made It’s track with John Legend titled ‘My Shoes’.  Mike Will had this message about the track & commercial below:

“This collaboration with LeBron James and Nike is all about expanding. I’ve been blessed to have so much success producing singles for other artists, and now, I’m just trying to stay creative, to start working on more diverse and different projects, like scoring commercials and movies, and executive producing albums and game or movie soundtracks. Miley Cyrus’ Bangerz album was the first project I executive produced.

LeBron is someone that’s been supporting the music I’ve done – he saw that I’m a young cat with no boundaries to my sound. And I’m a fan of his, too. He flew me to Miami while he filmed the commercial, and while I was there I got the chance meet with him and his whole team, as well as the producers from the Nike commercial. They let me know the feel and direction they wanted and I executed. Funny thing is, I already partially had the song, ‘My Shoes,’ done, and we continued to work on it to get it to match the commercial. I reached out to John Legend got him to cut vocals, and he sent it right back. We edited the song to fit the commercial and nailed it. Everyone was excited including Lebron and now we have this Nike spot that we hope everyone enjoys. The full song, my version of ‘My Shoes,’ will be on my album, Est. In 1989 Pt. 3.

Police Report Allegedly Claimed That Chris Brown Didn’t Throw The First Punch During Fight In D.C.

brown

Wow, this guy might just get lucky after all? From TMZ:

Chris Brown did not throw the first punch in the fight that landed him in jail — at least that’s what an initial draft of the police report stated, and even though it’s since been corrected … the mistake could work in Chris’ favor.

Sources connected with the case tell TMZ … the first version of the police report described Chris’ bodyguard as the person who threw the punch that broke the alleged victim’s nose — and further states Chris only jumped into the fight afterward.

TMZ has reviewed the initial version of the report and we also obtained a revised copy … which now states Chris landed the bone-crushing blow.

Chris’ attorney could make hay of the mixup, and the correction.

We’re also told police videotaped Chris, the bodyguard, the alleged victim, and other witnesses describing who hit whom during the melee. Law enforcement sources say they believe some of the people on tape may be shading the truth or outright lying, so the confusion may be a bonus for Chris.

Conrad Murray Is Out Of Prison; Jermaine Jackson Is Furious At His Release (Video)

From TMZ:

Jermaine Jackson isn’t just furious that Conrad Murray is a free man — just 2 years after Murray was convicted of manslaughter — Jermaine is “disgusted.”

Michael’s bro expressed his ire moments ago at LAX, but you really have to watch the video to get a feel for it.

Randy Jackson was also there, but he was feeling a little less talkative.

As we reported, Murray was released from jail in L.A. early this AM … and immediately hit up an In-N-Out for some burger therapy.
