A little jazzy and a little funky. This mostly instrumental track by chill indie artist MaLuca, has a nice wubwub (i don’t know what else to call it) going on with some good vocals and excellent guitar with some really nice flourishes in there. It’s smooth and moving.
A nice chill instrumental with a beat by self-described “electronic” artist Subtact. The track has great sound design with little electronic flourishes and a strange little synth line, it eventually peaks and even has a drop.
Local producer The HNIC dropped his new remix album Sunsets after the “CHAPO” video hit 10,000 plays, as promised. I don’t know where he’s findiing these crazy piano samples, man, these are crazy for cutting room floor beats.
Big Ka$h and 60oz are “Tired” of the fake, the ones hanging on and tired of waiting. Tonight, they present the new single from Kash’s upcoming street album YAMS. Expect to hear more soon.
A funky track from Nude, another artist off the great Moose Records based out of Paris. This is the title track from the No Air EP. The track comes off as rhythmic, kinda heavy and ambient at the same time. It’s entrancing with a beat. A little hard to describe but listen for yourself above.
Smoke DZA and his producer 183rd drop a new, wrestling-influenced EP featuring Peter Rosenberg. Is it just me, or is DZA’s flow really off on this project? Especially on track like “The Theme”, and “Sheik Baby.” And 183rd’s beats were “corny.” Maybe that’s the point? That’s what wrestling is like for me…
Mike Brown gets fucked up on “Boot Up” with JFK Films. I swear he’s the most Southern out of all the rappers from this area…that accent is something else.
One of our favorite local producers HNIC just got a major placement with this “CHAPO” record from A$ton Matthews and Vince Staples. Congratulate the man.
Hailing from the UK here’s a really chill track from Tropics off the album Rapture It starts off a little like James Blake and evolves into a beautiful chilly mess, subtle and not overbearing.
DC White heads back down to Atlanta for his latest video (shot by FoolwiththeCamera.) “On DecK” has White exploring a whispery, staccato flow with hints of singing. This video will get a lot of play around here.
A remix of the excellent track Somebody by Fenech Soler. The remix done by Leeds artist Farrow. is a dancier version of a dancey song full of reverb and delay. Pretty soon it gets cerebral and bouncy, never peaking too much. An excellent cut.

RHQ taunts all those claiming to be something they’re not. Not really feeling the Will A Fool beat on this on, but usually he’s one of our favorites.
Does Wale’s album follow up to the mixtape that gained him critical acclaim live up to the hype? Do his collaborations with Jerry Seinfeld sound as good as he claims? Is this just another pop record? Find out now. You can purchase the album on iTunes.
After the success of “Post Up”, Wiz and Ty Dolla $ign unite for a 5 track EP.
Gino Marley remains one of the strongest coming out of Chicago…”Wat If” is his new video.
Have you heard of AB Icee? DC’s bizarre, post-rap sensation announced his upcoming mixtape Thriller today, after recording with Johnny Cinco when the Atlanta rapper stopped through DC.
Chip recalls his come-up on “Moreland Ave”, a tribute to Atlanta’s infamous stretch of Route 32. The, creeping, simple beat was produced by BWheezy, who has been killing the placements lately. According to DGB, Chip has a new project coming soon.
Juvenile sounds comfortable and confident on Mardi Gras 2. The new mixtape from the New Orleans legend has finally catapulted him into the 21st century. Juvie presents a great selection of songs featuring Zaytoven, Mannie Fresh, Birdman, and more. The only disappointment is that Mannie Fresh doesn’t contribute to the production at all. Enjoy
As an apology for the delay of the Balla Blockin 2 mixtape, Baltimore talent Tootie Ro and Marino Gang drop a brand new EP.
Worldstar premiered the latest video from Johnny Cinco. The ATl sensation was in DC this weekend recording, expect to hear some surprise collaborations soon.
Thanks to On Stage DC and JFK Films, we have some great recaps of this weekend’s concert at the Fillmore from Da Big Fella and Pinky. Mike Brown Da Czar, Ethan Spalding, E4rmdacity and others also performed.
