Lily Allen Planning Return To Music; Changes Name (@lilyrosecooper)

Lily is excited to return to the recording studio.

“It’s great to work at my own pace, with no commitments other than to make music,” she revealed in a press release to Cover Media. “I’m excited to be heading back into the studio.”

The crooner recently tweeted she has been working on new material.

She has booked studio time to develop a collection of songs. No release date has been set for the new recordings.

Moving forward, Lily will adopt Lily Rose Cooper as her professional name. It is her married name with husband Sam Cooper.

The singer took a hiatus from her music career in 2009 when she announced she had no plans to make additional records. Since then she has launched a record label and clothing label Lucy in Disguise.

UK Music Stars Publish Protest Letter In Support Of Russian Girl Band Pussy Riot

Since this report has been published, Vladimir Putin has actually asked for leniency for the girl band. From The Guardian:

Some of Britain’s leading musicians have published a letter calling for Russian officials to release a punk band that has been jailed following a protest in Moscow’s main cathedral.

Pete Townshend, Jarvis Cocker, Neil Tennant and others call for the release of the three members of Pussy Riot in a letter published on Thursday in The Times.

The musicians say the band members were involved in legitimate protest and should not be facing up to seven years in jail for their actions.

The letter says “dissent is a right in any democracy”.

It was published as Russian president Vladimir Putin visits London for talks with prime minister David Cameron and a visit to the Olympic judo competition.

So Rihanna is trying to take over the UK. In addition to this new televion show, she also has a top-selling fragrance. From Gigwise:

Rihanna’s upcoming fashion TV show, Styled To Rock, won’t be short of big-name guests, with Cheryl Cole and Katy Perry among the stars on the guestlist for the Barbadian star’s new television project.

Other stars joining Rihanna on the show are said to include The Saturdays, Scissor Sisters, Katy B, Tinchy Stryder, Pixie Lott, Little Boots and Little Mix. The UK-based show will also feature designer Henry Holland and Girls Aloud star Nicola Roberts as mentors as wannabe designers create an outfit for a different artist every week.

Styled To Rock will air on Sky Living from 14 August, 2012.

In a press released issued by Pink Floyd, the band strenuously deny claims of any Olympics performance. It reads:

“In response to press speculation, Pink Floyd state that the band is NOT performing at the Closing Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games.”

Looks like we’re back to the who-will-Ed-Sheeran-play-with-at-the-Olympics guessing game, folks. He did hint that he will be performing alongside a “big rock band,” after all. Stay tuned to SoulCulture for further details as they become available.

Example says his fourth studio album, which will be called The Evolution of Man, should be out by November.

The British rapper and singer released his last record, Playing in the Shadows, in August 2011.

Example, 30, wrote most of his latest album while in Australia in January and finished the process off in Los Angeles and New York.

“Rihanna loves Tinie’s music and is fond of him as a person, too. She’s very keen to work with him at some point, which was discussed at length over dinner,” a source told British newspaper The Sun.

“Obviously, eating took up a small part of the night as he joined her crew on yet another wild night. It won’t be one that he will forget in a hurry.”

The JLS singer is wanted by bosses of the Sky1 talent show to become a judge as he thinks he will be able to relate to contestants because he and his bandmates were runner-ups in the 2008 series of ‘The X Factor’.

A source told The Sun newspaper: ”Producers feel Aston is perfect for the the show. He’ll be able to relate to the contestants as he made his name on a reality talent show himself.

”But they will have to wait and see if he’s available first.”

The Queen is a big fan of Dizzee Rascal, according to the Prime Minister.

Speaking at an event in London last night, David Cameron told Kate Middleton: “My favourite part of the opening ceremony was when your husband leant over and said to me, ‘I don’t know if you know, Prime Minister, but my grandmother is a great fan of Dizzee Rascal.'”

According to the Daily Mail, royal aides said that Prince William did say this to the Prime Minister, but that they weren’t able to confirm if the Queen is in fact a diehard Dizzee fan.

Dizzee Rascal appeared alongside Arctic Monkeys, Paul McCartney, Frank Turner and Two Door Cinema Club’s Alex Trimble at Danny Boyle’s four-hour Olympic Opening Ceremony extravaganza on Friday.

James “Jas” Prince, the man responsible for helping Drake getting on with Lil Wayne, is suing the rapper’s manager Cortez Bryant and Aspire Music Group, claiming he hasn’t been fully compensated.

In the suit filed last week in NY, Prince claims Bryant’s management team didn’t uphold their end of the deal. Although no amount has been disclosed, Prince also claims Drake hasn’t been paid either.
