Raheem DeVaughn – “Just Right” (Video)

Raheem DeVaughn still bringing the heat with his latest, as spotted on Billboard:

The three-time Grammy Award nominee shares his good fortune in the new video “Just Right,” premiering on Billboard today (July 29).

Singer/actress V. Bozeman (Empire) stars in the sensual “Just Right,” directed by Chris Scholar from a storyline envisioned by DeVaughn. It’s the visual accompaniment to DeVaughn’s top 20 Billboard R&B Songs hit and first single from his seventh studio album, The Love Reunion (SRG/DMG/Universal Music Group). The DeVaughn-penned track was produced by Tim Kelley, formerly of the production duo Tim & Bob (Boyz II Men, TLC).

Chucc WhYte Feat. Tate Kobang – “Here To Stay” (Video)

Over the last handful of years, the hip-hop scene in Maryland has flourished and there seems to consistently be new artists on the rise making a splash. One of those spitters is Maryland’s own Chucc WhYte, who today, releases an exciting collaboration with Baltimore hitmaker Tate Kobang titled “Here To Stay” (produced by Seven Beatz). Accompanied with a trippy visual, the two lyricists deliver attention-grabbing verses where the overall sentiment is clear – these two are ‘here to stay’ and that isn’t changing any time soon. Chucc‘s new single will live on his forthcoming album Better Days expected to drop later this summer.
Combining his exemplary cadence and flow with his profound rhythm and melodies, the Maryland emcee describes his artistry as “thug and soul” where he takes a somewhat radical approach to his music. Always providing substance with his lyrics and deep meaning, Chucc uses his real-life experiences to paint audiovisuals for all of his listeners. With Chucc‘s past music, such as “Crabs In A Bucket”, to his most recent release in “Here To Stay”, it’s clear he’s got the formula down pat.
Though from different parts of Maryland, the chemistry between Chucc and Tate is noticeable making for a strong collab. Stream “Here To Stay” on all platforms now and be sure to tune into the equally-pleasing visual, also out now. Better Days coming soon!

Phora – ‘Bury Me With Dead Roses’ (Stream); “The Dream” (Video)

Last week, Phora shutdown his Yours Truly store on Fairfax Avenue in LA to honor the release of his debut effort since splitting from Warner Records and joining Roc Nation’s management branch. Comprised of 16 cohesive tracks including standout singles “Forgive Me,” “On My Way,” and his Nipsey Hussle tribute “The Dream,” Bury Me With Dead Roses is an audio coming of age story. Though Ecko and Mariah contribute guest vocals on “Te Necesito,” in true Phora form the project is light on features yet heavy on content.

Phora on the album:

‘Bury Me With Dead Roses’ is an album about the beauty and pain of life, an album that I depict as the death of the old me and a transformation into a new me. The first half of the album is about motivation, love, life, and happiness while the second half is about pain, hurt, struggle, and loss. I feel like I’m always trapped between being happy or depressed, there’s never any middle ground – so I choose to embrace that for this album. An album of my deepest fears and my highest people. I learned that you will lose your soul trying to satisfy someone else and you will lose your heart trying to meet their expectations. This album isn’t for me, this album is for everyone. We all have demons, we all want to feel something, but change inspires change when we least expect it.
