42 Dugg Feat. Arabian – “Soon” (Video)

42 Dugg decided to bless fans with a new visual. In related news, the Detroit emcee is currently behind bars for avoiding a six-month prison sentence. As explained by Rolling Stone, where you can read the full story:

Detroit rapper 42 Dugg was arrested Wednesday in Michigan after failing to turn himself in to serve an outstanding six-month prison sentence.

In March 2020, a federal grand jury in Georgia charged the rising rapper, real name Dion Hayes, with possessing a firearm, a felony given Hayes was previously convicted of carjacking and firearms possessions in his native Michigan in 2011. Hayes pleaded guilty to those charges in Nov. 2020, and was sentenced to three years probation.

However, his probation was revoked in Feb. 2022 after Hayes was arrested for obstruction of law enforcement and battery in Las Vegas; he also had “multiple positive test results for use of controlled substances,” another violation of his probation, the arrest warrant obtained by Rolling Stone states. Hayes was subsequently sentenced to six months in a West Virginia prison.

Hayes was ordered to report in April 2022 to begin his sentence; when he didn’t appear, an arrest warrant was issued, leading to his arrest Wednesday by federal agents. According to the Detroit News, 42 Dugg attended Tuesday night’s NBA playoff game between the Golden State Warriors and the home Memphis Grizzles. When Hayes’ private jet landed back in Detroit early Wednesday morning, he was apprehended.

IDK – Tiny Desk (Home) Concert (Video)

The Tiny Desk is working from home for the foreseeable future. Introducing NPR Music’s Tiny Desk (home) concerts, bringing you performances from across the country and the world. It’s the same spirit — stripped-down sets, an intimate setting — just a different space.

I first saw IDK perform in 2017. An infectious ball of energy, he captivated the audience with every vigorous bar and step; his personality filled the large stage that he only shared with a DJ.

There’s a similar vibe at his (home) concert, actually recorded at his house, with a live audience of neighbors and friends and a palpable feeling of genuine hospitality and gratitude. Look at the deep blue paint on the walls IDK carefully selected, along with other adornments in his lovely Los Angeles home. Visually, the room is vivid yet calm, and sonically, his music has that same kind of feeling.

He starts with a lovely, slow version of “Puerto Rico,” from his 2021 album USEE4YOURSELF. Its lush harmonies and dynamic swells get you ready to dance for his next song, “Taco,” a house-influenced, gritty song from his new album produced by DJ prodigy Kaytranada. The album’s title, Simple., references Simple City, a neighborhood in Southeast Washington, D.C. He wants the world to know that the fix to helping disadvantaged Black communities isn’t as “simple” as you think.

More songs from the new record keep the cool vibe going. Though a lyrical rapper, IDK shows his singing acumen on “Zaza Tree” and “Breathe,” a musical adventure with the catchiest hook — “let me catch my breath” — and a stellar guitar solo from producer Mike Dean. “‘Breathe’ is the most ME song I’ve ever made,” IDK wrote on Twitter earlier this month, “and for me It’s proof that I’m still continuing to grow.”

The set ends strong with “The Code,” a continuation of his new signature sound of alluring jazz harmonies, hard bass and driving rhythms.

R.I.P. Lil Keed

As seen on CNN, where you can read more on the story. Condolences to Keed’s family and friends.

Atlanta-based rapper Lil Keed died Friday at the age of 24, according to a tweet Sunday from his record label Young Stoner Life (YSL).

Lil Keed, whose real name is Rahqid Render, inked a deal with Young Thug’s YSL records via 300 Entertainment in 2018, according to YSL’s website. His 2019 debut album, “Long Live Mexico,” peaked at No. 26 on the Billboard 200, according to Billboard’s website.

“A member of our family is gone,” YSL tweeted. “Lil Keed was one of the most genuine and heartfelt human beings. He was an artist who loved his fans more than anything else. We lost a brother, a son, a father, and a friend. Keep him in your prayers and his legacy alive. Long Live Lil Keed.”

Lil Keed’s brother Lil Gotit posted about his brother’s death on his verified Instagram account.
