Figure drops a throwback, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles/video game inspired Drumstep track “Cowabunga”, via Rotten Records. I’m assuming this is to prep for the upcoming TMNT movie but, I dunno. You can look at the various ways to purchase this tune HERE, although iTunes isn’t on the list yet. This brings me back to my youth, where the Teenage Mutant NES game was a favorite in an Alexandria rec centers…and no I’m not that old, we were still playing that games in the 2000s.
Bristol Grime madman Kahn put his own touch on UK production legends Kalbata & Mixmonster’s title track from their 2013 Roots Reggae Album. Featuring Major Mackeral, we’ll have to wait for a full version of this remix sometime soon.
Skism’s label “Never Say Die” has dropped their third compilation of Bass and Dubstep records (in conjunction with UKF.) To celebrate, he did a huge mix of songs from the compilation and some other songs from frequent collaborators at Circus Records (home of Flux Pavillion, Doctor P, Funtcase, etc), Disciple (Bar 9 and others) and Big Tuna (Trampa). Basically, some of the biggest names in making Dubstep what it was/is and expanding the huge Bass genre. This is a crazy mix, definitely something worth checking out if you’re into Grime, “EDM”, basically anything Dance or Electronic. Enjoy and support by purchasing the compilation here. The always mysterious 4Bidden drops another melodic Electronic track, with elements of House, Trap, classic Hip-Hop and Grime. “Vertigo” is less dissonant, dark and Bass-heavy than some of his other material as of late, but it still remains memorable as ever.
Richmond rapper Noah-O grabs local legends Nickelus F & Rum for “RICH”, a music video once taken down from Youtube b off his forthcoming Monument Avenue, project. The video shows the Monument Avenue, an area of Richmond filled with statues, mostly those of people important in the Confederacy…making the song and video directed by Monsee that much more powerful.

Ab-Soul has a new album, These Days… coming out on Thursday. “Closure”, featuring Jhene Aiko and produced by Sounwave has Soul crooning about lost love. The video reflects that nicely.
