A$AP Rocky Found Guilty of Assault in Sweden; Won’t Do Any Additional Jail Time

You can read the full story at CNN. Good luck to any other his Swedish fans hoping to catch him on stage in their country ever again…

US rapper A$AP Rocky has been found guilty of assault and handed a conditional sentence after he was involved in a street brawl in Stockholm.

The performer and two members of his entourage were convicted by a Swedish court, following a confrontation in the Swedish capital on June 30.

In its ruling on Wednesday, Stockholm District Court rejected the performer’s claim that the trio had been acting in self-defense.

“Based on statements from two witnesses, the court finds that the defendants were not subject to a current or imminent criminal attack,” the ruling said.

“Therefore, they were not in a situation where they were entitled to use violence in self-defense. Nor could they have perceived themselves to be in such a situation.”

Billionaire Moves: Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Partners With The NFL

You can read the full story over at the New York Times:

Looking to move past an uproar over player protests, the N.F.L. has signed a deal with the rap star and impresario Jay-Z to gain a foothold in the music business and a seal of approval from one of the country’s biggest African-American celebrities for its social justice efforts.

The deal, with Roc Nation, the rapper’s entertainment and sports company, calls for the firm to be the N.F.L.’s “live music entertainment strategist.” In that role, Roc Nation and Jay-Z will consult on entertainment, including the Super Bowl halftime show, and contribute to the league’s activism campaign, Inspire Change.

The N.F.L. is keen to portray the deal as a way to bring more high-profile entertainers to its events. It also represents an effort to quiet the long-running controversy over its handling of players kneeling or sitting during the national anthem — most notably involving Colin Kaepernick, the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback — and to form a bond with one of its most influential critics.

“The N.F.L. has a great big platform, and it has to be all-inclusive,” Jay-Z said in an interview this week at Roc Nation’s headquarters in Manhattan. “They were willing to do some things, to make some changes, that we can do some good.”

Drake’s ‘Care Package’ Earns Him Another #1 on Billboard

As seen on Billboard:

Drake achieves his ninth No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart, as his new archival compilation album, Care Package, premieres in the top slot. The set, which was released on Aug. 2 via OVO Sound/Republic Records, launches with 109,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending Aug. 8, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 16,000 were in album sales.

Care Package collects 17 of Drake’s stray tracks — many of which were never officially released and only available via Soundcloud or YouTube.

Drake extends his own record for the most No. 1 albums this decade, as all nine of his leaders have arrived since 2010. Care Package is also the first No. 1 album for OVO Sound, the label co-founded by Drake. All of Drake’s previous albums were released via Young Money/Cash Money/Republic.

A$AP Rocky is a Free Man

Featured image source: LionsShareNews/TheImageDirect.com

You can read much more on the story at TMZ, who also revealed that Rocky spent the weekend (presumably) thanking Kanye West and Kim Kardashian for their efforts during a Sunday Service session.

A$AP Rocky was downright gleeful after touching down on U.S. soil Saturday just after midnight … free for the first time in a month.

A$AP’s private jet touched down at LAX after a long flight from Sweden … this after the judges in his criminal case allowed him to leave the country as they noodled over the verdict.

The rapper was ecstatic … smiling, taking pics with folks, hugging people. He actually stayed in the private terminal parking lot for around 45 minutes, talking and joking most of the time.

As we reported, all signs point to a not guilty verdict. Prosecutors in the assault case asked the judges to keep Rocky behind bars because he remained a flight risk. The judges had a middle-ground option — to release him from custody but order that he remain in Sweden, pending the verdict which will be announced on August 14, but instead they let him return to the U.S.

Fact is … a judge thought he was a flight risk a month ago when he threw Rocky in jail, even before charges were filed, so he’d be at least as much of a flight risk today … and that’s why it seems like it doesn’t matter anymore and that he’ll be found not guilty.

Our Rocky sources say he’s never going back to Sweden, and even though his position has been that race was not a factor, privately everyone in his camp thinks it was, and he probably does as well. It was smart of him not to take a stand on the racial issue, for fear of inflaming the judges.

A$AP Rocky Officially Charged with Assault

You can read the full story here, but — basically — Trump’s attempt to help didn’t do s***: A$AP Rocky has formally been charged with assault…the prosecutor claimed that he was privy to additional footage the world hadn’t seen as one of the reasons for the decision.

A$AP Rocky has just been charged with a crime after spending weeks in a Swedish jail … prosecutors just hit him with Assault Causing Actual Bodily Harm stemming from a street brawl in the country’s capital … and if convicted he could spend 2 years behind bars.

The prosecutor said A$AP will continue to be held in jail pending a trial … and the trial date has not been set, although it could be today. A rep for the prosecutor tells TMZ the trial will be held within the next 2 weeks. The prosecutor expects the trial will last 3 days.

Two members of Rocky’s crew have also been charged with the same crime and they will also be held pending trial.

To be honest, it’s looking like YBN Cordae’s debut album The Lost Boy could have the same impact that The Game’s The Documentary — and, yes, I know this is really off of more hype than anything else. Still, you can’t deny the PG-based emcee’s talent…so with that said:

An 11-Year-Old Was Shot & Killed in D.C. Last Night

A senseless murder of a child only about a year since the murder of another. Add in the non-fatal shootings of children for good measure…this city is full of cowards, period. From NBC Washington, where you can read more on the story:

An 11-year-old boy was fatally shot in Southeast D.C. Thursday night, police said, a little more than a year after another child was slain in D.C.

Karon Brown was shot near the intersection of Naylor Road and Alabama Avenue around 7 p.m., police said. The shooter remains on the loose.

“This was a child. There were other children in and around the area,” D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser said. “Our communities have to stand up and speak up and make sure anyone who knows anything about this brazen homicide is brought to justice.”

Kanye West & Kim Kardashian Ask Trump to Help A$AP Rocky

No clue on what Trump & Co. will do in response.

Anwan “Big G” Glover Now Free Following Recent Arrest (UPDATE)

As reported above, legendary actor-musician Big G is now free following a recent arrest, of which the details can be seen below (from Fox DC):

D.C. police picked up Glover — whose legal name is Ralph Glover — on June 26 after responding to a report of a driver in a white Jeep sticking his gun out of a window and making multiple lane changes without signaling.

When they pulled Glover over after determining that his vehicle matched that description, police allegedly found a loaded gun.

Court documents indicate that Glover does not have a license to carry a gun in the District of Columbia.

Glover’s lawyers say he didn’t know about the gun in his vehicle.

It should be noted that, as reported on TMZ, Big G refused allowing the police to search his vehicle upon request; they did so anyway, claiming probable cause.

UPDATE: From the man himself (below).
